Silver creek cabin

  • Beautiful small cabin overlooking a working trout pond. Listen to the small waterfalls from silver creek into the pond. Cabin has amazing views and hiking trails into the national forest and we can’t wait to have you here. Be advised, cellphone service is very limited with most carriers and we do have wifi. Rainbow trout have just been refilled for the year and the owner feeds them daily, it’s such a great experience to watch them. They will swim right around the back deck, there’s also a fire pit in the front yard, very peaceful.

This is a perfect cabin for a couple looking for a quiet get away in the area. Single bed and bath with a porch right on the pond, we enjoyed watching the fish churn the water to a boil at feeding time. Although it may be small for a family, my wife and I had a wonderful stay here.

Host and owner were super responsive and so kind. The cabin was perfect for us. Peacefully and comfortable. We fell asleep to the sound of the waterfall behind us in the creek. We enjoyed feeding the fish in the morning and exploring some of the trails. Great stay for couples or someone looking for peace and quiet. Would stay again for sure. Thank you John and Emily!

Cabin was exactly as described. Great location, the trout were fun to feed, owner John was very friendly. Perfect place to unplug because there is absolutely no service. The bathroom could have used a good cleaning, but otherwise the cabin was very comfortable.

This cabin is an excellent way to get away from it all. Contact with the owner and others was good and they were helpful.

The manager messaged me letting me know the details. We had 1 small hiccup as i was the first of the year, as soon as a notified them if said issue, they responded immediately and fixed it. They are extremely friendly and kind. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a nice little get away. Oh and the waterfall is such an amazing feature while sitting out and reading.

Worked well for location of family event.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here; it was restful and several spots to visit nearby. The property owner is very friendly, helpful, and available, if needed. We would do this again!

I had the most lovely time! The cabin was very sweet!! The scenery was gorgeous!! Very zen!! The owner was an absolute sweetheart and Cocoa won my heart instantly!! I wish I could have stayed longer. I hope to return in the future.

Relax in nature

Setting was beautiful, perfect for relaxing get away. John, the owner, brought fish food for us to throw into trout pond. And we got to visit with his dog, Cocoa, too! John was very responsive when needed.

Peaceful place

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very peaceful and quiet. Very unique and pleasant surroundings, being right on the creek. We enjoyed hearing the creek at night as we slept, and drinking morning coffee over looking the trout pond. The place is very clean and easy to stay at. The owner is friendly and helpful. Feeding the fish is pretty fun! There are many beautiful places near here to visit and enjoy. We will definitely come back if we are in the area.

Cabin in the woods

We had a most relaxing time. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is a great place to start. John the owner lives across the creek, so if you’re in need of anything, just give a holler. His cute little dog coco was such a great greeter also. Would recommend if you’re looking for rustic.

Beautiful and entertaining stay. We did not realize we were adjoining a trout pond! The fish entertained us and we were glad we chose to reach out and meet the property owner! The location for our activities planned was very good. The only thing I would suggest to change is the address/location listed for the cabin. It was inaccurate. The property manager cleared this up with us but it was confusing at first.

Perfect.

We were met by a super cute and friendly dog named coco right when we pulled in.A little cabin that is updated on the inside.On a little pond that turned out to be a fishery for rainbow trout.Shower worked good,fridge was good,water was hot when you needed it.TV worked as advertised.Fire wood was included which was awesome.The property butts up to a national forest and the scenery was awazing..The owner John could not have been friendly or more accomodating.The hardest wroking 78 year old i ever seen.We had dinner with him,super nice guy.I will return someday ,one of the best spots I've found.

The view was absolutely amazing. There was a small deck out back that overlooked the pond. It was a great place to do a little reading. And appropriately enough, on the morning of July 4 when I woke up and opened the blinds in the bedroom, I stared out at an eagle that was on the other side of the pond (I suspect that eagle was looking for breakfast... the pond was full of fish). You can't beat an experience like that!

This was a great get away. Its very laid back a peace...tranquility. there is no wifi, so if you really need it this isn't for you. You were able to receive text and phone calls. Communication is quickly responded to if there is a problem or a question. The owner of the property does live on the premises and he will supply us you with food to fed the fish. Wish I had a longer time there. Remember you are up north and are renting a cabin, not a hotel, but its nicely furnished and clean.

Black River Cabin

Location was outstanding. Although the address on the mailbox needs to be shown in both directions. More deeper cleaning and windows washed. Shower door is about to fall off. The time we spent there was great. Our host was very friendly and gave flowers to my wife. Feeding the fish was very fun. They swarmed to the food. Fun to watch. The host dog cocoa would come over to visit. Last is Cell signal was nonexistent.

It was quiet

If you want peace and quiet, this is the place. The owner super nice, he even gave us a delicious blueberry pie. Why a 3 rating if peace and quiet is what I was wanting. The listing stated WIFI as one of the amenities. Not only was there no wifi, data reception was zero. Truth is i would not have picked this place if i knew there was no wifi. We usually plan or days as they come but was not able to plan because of no data or wifi. We drove more than we would of liked.

The house was infested wit insects

The first night we noticed fly like insects swarming the inside of the house, not sure where they came from. They were getting all over us and in every room. We had no phone service or internet to contact anyone. We left the home at about 1130 pm to find a hotel, had to drive for an hour to find a vacancy. The owner refuses to give us a full refund or even 1 1/2 days, he kept saying he could have taken care of the problem if we had notified him. We did not even know he was the owner per the posting he was a neighbor. He just kept trying to convince us it was our responsibility to contact him and we could of stayed. I have a video of the living room ceiling but I can attach it here.

Peaceful private getaway for a couple

Quite and comfortable cabin surrounded by woods, water and dark skies filled with stars you don’t experience in cities, suburbs and towns. Small cabin is surrounded by a clear swift creek filled with a multitude of farmed trout just waiting to be fed every morning and evening. Pleasant cosy deck on the creek; perfect for feeding the fish, grilling a burger or steak. Just kicking back and enjoying the surroundings works well, too. John, the owner (and builder) is very pleasant and interesting . John is also helpful and accommodating. There are many adventures to be had all along the shores of Lake Huron. Recommended!
