Vintage Graeagle Cottage

  • Fifty1 Graeagle Meadows is a lovingly preserved 1970s mountain cottage set in a quiet corner of Graeagle Meadows, just a 10 minute walk to downtown Graeagle and a short 10-minute drive from the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. This 2-bedroom, 2-full-bath cottage sleeps up to 4 and is a favorite for couples, small families, and groups of friends — dogs welcome, with a fully fenced backyard for safe off-leash play.

    Step through the original Dutch entry door and back into what Graeagle looked and felt like 50 years ago: a harvest-gold kitchen, original wallpaper, and a warm rust, brown, and gold palette throughout. Cozy up by the native rock fireplace on cool mountain nights, relax under the redwood paneling that lines the living space, and stay comfortable on warmer days with the evaporative cooler. [Add primary heat source here if one exists beyond the fireplace.]

    The king-bed master suite has its own ensuite bath; the guest bedroom offers a full bed and access to the second full bath. The fully stocked kitchen makes it easy to settle in from the moment you arrive, and free, fast fiber-optic wifi keeps the whole group connected. Two on-site parking spaces are included, one of them covered.

    *Rates based on double occupancy per room. Additional guests $25 per person per night.

    3. Please do not overload the dumpsters, and use the GREEN dumpsters for trash and BLUE for recycle.
    4. Please do not put anything down the toilet or sink that is not easily degradable.

    To book with your pet, either call us directly, or select a pet-friendly property on our website, and click the `Pet Fee` box at check out. For properties requiring prior approval, please email or call us with the request.

    We suggest bringing your pet`s bedding as pets are prohibited from being on furniture or beds.

    If pet hair is found on furniture or beds, Renter will be subject to a non-refundable cleaning fee of $100.

    Towels belonging to the Premises are not to be used on pets.

    Visiting pets are not allowed.

The property in Graeagle Meadows is a time capsule to the 1970's complete with shag carpet, metallic mauve and rust wallpaper in one of the bathrooms, kitchen with matching stove, fridge and countertop in mustard yellow, and naugahyde swivel chairs in the living room. And, even though it is clearly vintage, it all is in impeccable condition. It brought me back to my childhood, in a good way. The home is also filled with lovely art, has a beautiful stone fireplace, comfy beds and soft, plush bedding and a huge fenced in backyard that was perfect for my friend's German Shepard to play with her ball and run off some of her energy. The location is perfect--right down the street from the adorable Graeagle shopping district, and less than 10 miles from the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. The only improvements we would suggest would be to provide some instructions for operating the TV's--we never quite figured out how to use them or what streaming services, if any, were provided. And also, it would be great if there were blackout curtains or blinds over the window in the smaller bedroom so that the street lamps can't shine into the window at night. Other than that, we had a very comfy stay and would highly recommend this unique property.
