The pros are the proximity to downtown and the parking. The beds are good (new feeling and firm yet comfortable). It was pretty clean and they gave us water, tissues, laundry detergent, and a few spices.
The cons are the things that you don’t see in the listing. When the shower is running there is a pipe that bangs very loudly against the near bedroom wall. It’s alarming. We arrived after a long drive and I went to use the bathroom first thing; there was no hand towel, there were 3 hand soap dispensers but only one worked and it was the large plastic industrial one hung on the wall (not very “historic“). After finding a hand towel in the dresser drawer of a bedroom I realized that there was no place to hang it, nor the shower towels. The shower curtain rod is hung poorly and too low so we were stepping on the curtain liner which wasn’t very clean. The house is right on Main Street so you will likely hear traffic through the night, especially from the front bedroom that has lots of windows. The house is marketed as historic but there is no charm or character in my opinion. The updates use low end materials (sheet vinyl flooring in the bathroom, faucets, mirror, track lighting, white mini blinds without curtains). There is almost no decor (one piece of artwork and one clock) giving it a very empty feeling. The dressers were also shoved to the corner. They did set the dining table, however. That and the blankets and comforters were the warmth in the house.
