Tucked away in the shade of tall evergreens, this Brookings cabin provides a wonderful home base for taking in the splendor of the Southern Oregon Coast. Come home from your daily adventures to barbecue on the gas grill, dine alfresco in the fresh ocean air, and soak in the private hot tub beneath star-filled skies.

This single-story home enjoys a beautiful position just across the Oregon Coast Highway and up the hill from Whaleshead Beach. It's located in the heart of the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor - a place to hike the Oregon Coast Trail, explore secluded beaches, and go for long, scenic drives. Harris Beach State Park, Cape Ferrelo, the Thomas Creek Bridge, Natural Bridges, and Arch Rock State Park are all within seven miles.

The outdoor spaces here are generous and comfortable, whether you're savoring your first cup of coffee in the morning or unwinding in the hot tub at the end of the day. There's even a covered portion of the deck with an outdoor table for family meals overlooking the woods.

Inside, the house is classic and inviting. Enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a living room with plush furnishings around a smart TV. Complimentary WiFi is provided for your convenience as well.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Good stay overall, the tv did not work properly and the couches seem outdated and should be replaced. A new shower head so the water pressure is better would be nice as well.

Hot tub only had 4 inches of water in it. The property manager said they would address it and never got back to us. The mattress is ancient, hard and squeaky, extremely uncomfortable. No bed side lamps. The freezer doesn't seal all the way. The futon is broken. The couches were uncomfortable. The heating doesn't reach the bedroom. The shower head is dysfunctional. It was very clean and the setting is sweet. Easy beach access. Easy check in. Rented this place specifically because of the hot tub but overall, there wasn't a single cozy accommodation in the cabin.

“cabin” has large living areas with small bedroom and bath. It was clean and had well stocked kitchen. TV was a bit of a struggle with 6 remotes but found the firestick worked after some time. Hot tub is leaking and was not useable so a bummer there. Place is close to beach with trails right across highway. Cabin is surrounded by trailer park so not totally private but it is a quiet.

Nice and cozy

The property is nice. There are two things that need to be addressed however. The front steps need to be tightened and/or replaced. Also, the bed is very antiquated and needs to be replaced.The property was very nice and the hot tub was great.

As advertised

Overall we had a great stay. Only complaint is the bed was very uncomfortable, just too hard. Water pressure in shower was very weak. Perfect for the dog and great kitchen for cooking. Comfy living room :). We would stay again for the price and location.

Cute little cabin with a great deck. Unfortunately the cleanliness was slightly off. Mattress was pretty uncomfortable and noisy. I don't usually like to leave poor reviews, but there was some room for improvement on cleaning. There were used coffee grounds in the coffee maker, under the coffee table was some tortilla chips and leaves, several little bugs were in a corner by the vanity, and the hot tub was not clean, so we did not feel comfortable using it. That is why we chose this cabin as it had a hot tub. The restaurant was not open and there were no maps at the shed, had a bit of trouble finding the cabin as there was no cell service there to look up the map. We had to drive back almost to Brookings to get service to download the map.

Cabin Rental

The cabin was very cute and supplied perfectly. It was a pet friendly rental so we weren't overly surprised to see dog hair on some of the living room pillows and one of the blankets. When we pulled out the futon, there was a female black widow and some very tiny spiders which was a little concerning. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there very much. The check in process was a bit much. It was short term notice so there were extra steps that involved more personal information including taking a selfie picture and paying through some other site. I thought we were going through VRBO, but it was actually through a different company. Their customer service was helpful and kind through all the confusion.

Overall really pleasant

The bed wasn’t that loud in our opinion. The whole place did smell really strongly like dog pee which was difficult at times to handle but we will just not choose a dog friendly spot next time. We would’ve liked a bit more information on check out responsibilities like where to put towels and trash. The hot tub was over-chlorinated but still a great way to spend the evenings and the privacy fence is really great. Overall we loved the place and it’s location!

Horrible Customer Service

The property was dirty when we arrived. There was dog hair everywhere. The trash can outside was filled with the previous guests trash and it was full. The sheets were not washed. They had red blotches on the pillow cases. We removed the sheets and replaced them with sheets from the linen closet. The hot tub was filthy. There were white clumps floating around and it did not have a floating filter in the hot tub to keep it sanitized. During our stay we also think someone went into our house. The front door has a lock box on it and during one of our outings the lock box was turned upside down on the door handle. This made us uncomfortable but we didn't notice anything missing and were trying to make the best out of our stay. Unfortunately, during our stay we accidentally left an item of high value and tried to communicate SEVERAL times with Vacasa Customer Service and were told lost and found items were not a priority. I left several messages with Vacasa trying to contact the host for this house and was unsuccessful. They ignored my calls and have never followed up with us. An extremely shady company and local hosts. We will never book with Vacasa again or stay at Whaleshead "Resort".
