The heart of the cottage. Original beams run the length of the ceiling, and the wood-burning fire dominates the room — properly warming, properly atmospheric. This is where evenings happen: wine open, fire lit, nowhere to be.
Seating is generous and comfortable, arranged for conversation rather than just screen-watching. A smart TV is available when you want it, with fast WiFi throughout the property. But honestly? The fire tends to win.
The living room flows naturally into the kitchen and dining area, keeping the sociable, open feel that makes group stays work. Nobody is stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is in the lounge.

A fully equipped kitchen built for proper cooking — not just reheating. Everything you need is here: full oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and a quality espresso machine for the mornings when you need it most.

The church of St Mary the Virgin, directly visible from the cottage, is one of the finest perpendicular Gothic churches in Suffolk. The village has been here since before the Domesday Book. Standing in the garden on a quiet morning, that sense of continuity is palpable.

Bury St Edmunds — 10 minutes. Cathedral, Abbey Gardens, a renowned market, and some of the best independent restaurants in the region. A proper day out or an easy evening dinner.
Lavenham — 20 minutes. Arguably the best-preserved medieval village in England. Worth at least an afternoon.
Aldeburgh & the Suffolk Coast — 45 minutes. Aldeburgh is one of the great English seaside towns: fish and chips on the beach, the Snape Maltings concert hall, shingle beaches stretching to the horizon.
Cambridge — 40 minutes. For those who want a city fix without the London commute.
Newmarket — 20 minutes. The home of British horse racing, with the National Stud and Racing Museum for those who want something different.
