Getting around Puerto Rico from Cabo Rojo, especially from "Serenity by the Sea," requires careful planning as reliable public transportation is largely confined to the San Juan metropolitan area. To fully experience the island's diverse attractions, a rental car is highly recommended.
-Rental Car (Highly Recommended) This is the most flexible and convenient way to explore Puerto Rico from Cabo Rojo. A rental car gives you the freedom to visit various beaches, attractions, and towns at your own pace without relying on schedules or availability of other services. Major international car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Budget, National) have desks at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan. While fewer options exist closer to Cabo Rojo, you might find some local agencies in nearby Mayagüez. Booking in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, is strongly advised to ensure availability and potentially better rates.
-Ride-Sharing Services (Uber/Lyft) Uber operates in Puerto Rico, including the Cabo Rojo area. Lyft's presence is less common but may also be available. These services can be quite useful for shorter, local trips within Cabo Rojo or to nearby towns like Mayagüez, Boquerón, or Joyuda. However, finding an available driver for longer distances, such as a trip from Cabo Rojo to San Juan, can be challenging. Many drivers may be reluctant to accept such long fares due to the time commitment and the return trip without a passenger.
-Private Shuttles/Taxis (Pre-arranged) For tourists who prefer not to drive or use ride-sharing for long distances, pre-arranged private shuttle services or traditional taxis are an option. These services offer the convenience of a dedicated pick-up and drop-off but come at a higher cost compared to rental cars for multi-day use. They are particularly useful for direct airport transfers or specific long-haul journeys across the island.
-Public Buses (Guaguas) and Metro It's important for tourists to know that Puerto Rico's public transportation system (buses, or "guaguas," and the "Tren Urbano" metro) primarily serves the San Juan metropolitan area. These services are not a viable option for inter-city travel to or from Cabo Rojo, nor for getting around within the Cabo Rojo region. They are not designed for tourist access to beaches or natural attractions outside of major urban centers.
Guests must be at least 21 years of age to check-in. Check-in time is at 4P local time. Checkout time is at 11 AM local time. We want to provide a delightful experience to our incoming guests, so we need your help vacating your unit on time. Please be advised any unauthorized checkout past 11 AM will have an additional cost.
We offer several paid amenities as add-on services. After the reservation, these paid amenities can be ordered through the Marketplace tab in our Guidebook. We offer packages such as early check-in, late check-out, pack-n-play travel crib, air mattress, and birthday balloons.
Our Beach Essentials only include beach towels and beach chairs.
To make your stay even more enjoyable, we’ve included an Otium Starter Package in each of our properties. This package includes all the essentials you’ll need to get you started and feel right at home. You’ll find 2 large bath towels, 1 beach towel, 1 washcloth per guest, along with a hand towel per bathroom. We’ve also included mouthwash and toothpaste in each bathroom for your convenience. To keep you feeling fresh and clean, you’ll find shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. For your snacking pleasure, we’ve included 2 snacks per guest, along with water and 1 paper towel. We’ve also got you covered with 2 toilet papers, dish soap, and hand soap. So sit back, relax, and enjoy all the amenities that come with your stay. If you need more amenities you may purchase our Otium Replenish Package, Towel Replenish Package, and Blanket Replenish Package via our Marketplace.
Please be respectful of the home, as we like to keep it in good condition. No parties or events are allowed. The house rules here are very important. Parties, loud music or noise, and smoking are strictly prohibited. Quiet hours begin at 10 PM. Please be respectful of your noise level during quiet hours. Our neighbors live here full-time, and we work hard to maintain good relationships with them. Our home is equipped with NoiseAware, which measures sound levels and alerts us if things are too loud so we can give you a heads-up. NoiseAware does not record content; it only measures noise levels, so your privacy is 100% guaranteed.
To abide by all legal requirements and building security rules, you may be asked to provide a copy of your official government-issued photo ID, confirm your contact information, provide a valid credit card with a name that matches your ID, pass through our verification portal and, in some instances, complete a criminal background check. Important note: The information is collected for screening and verification only and is not stored or used for any other purposes. Please be advised that all guests will be asked to sign a rental usage agreement that governs the terms of the stay. By completing the reservation you agree to the following: -You agree to be bound by our rental terms and conditions. -You acknowledge that you will be required to provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID and matching credit card prior to check-in. -You acknowledge that you may be required to undergo a background check if mandated by the property management company or the building, as stated in accordance with your rental agreement and the condition of the booking. -You acknowledge that there is a non-refundable damage waiver fee of $25 to cover any potential incidentals during your stay. -You understand that your check-in instructions might be withheld until you have successfully completed our verification portal.
