Major international car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Budget, National) have desks at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan. While fewer options exist closer to Cabo Rojo, you might find some local agencies in nearby Mayagüez. Booking in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, is strongly advised to ensure availability and potentially better rates.
-Ride-Sharing Services (Uber/Lyft)
Uber operates in Puerto Rico, including the Cabo Rojo area. Lyft's presence is less common but may also be available. These services can be quite useful for shorter, local trips within Cabo Rojo or to nearby towns like Mayagüez, Boquerón, or Joyuda. However, finding an available driver for longer distances, such as a trip from Cabo Rojo to San Juan, can be challenging. Many drivers may be reluctant to accept such long fares due to the time commitment and the return trip without a passenger.
