Sadly, a hotel that’s past its best.
We stayed here last year and thought we’d give it another try this year (we felt it was very average last time) and sadly this time we were disappointed all round. The reception we received on arrival was indifferent as was our check-out, not even a, “How was your stay”, or “Where are you off to next”. Our room was tatty (extractor fan missing in bathroom, carpet loose at edges and decor generally chipped). Other guests who were there and had been going for years also had the same comments. We won’t be returning as there’s plenty of quality accommodation in Franschhoek where they welcome and treat guest as individuals rather than just another room filled with a fee.

Forgotten item- stolen
I would have given this hotel 5 stars. We loved it and the staff were wonderful. My mistake was leaving an expensive item behind in the room. I have contacted the hotel and while assured they would respond they haven’t. Sadly this has tarnished the experiences.

Wenn mein ein Doppelzimmer bucht, zahlt man ein Doppelzimmer. Das war bislang immer so. In diesem Hotel war man überrascht, das ein Doppelzimmer von 2 Personen, Ehemann und Ehefrau genutzt wurde und man verlangte einen erheblichen Aufpreis. Ein kulantes Abweichen über eine friends and family rate wurde abgelehnt. Dafür quietschte das Bett und nur noch die Pfosten eines ehemaligen Himmelbetts standen. In die Jahre gekommen, schade...

Beautiful location with Villa accommodation. Short distance to centre and to meet Tram for wine exploration. Reception organized a driver to take us to vineyards of our choice as we only had an afternoon to explore them. Went above and beyond. Thank you.

Above expectations. Most enjoyable and relaxed
An excellent Hotel that exceeded our expectations. Very quiet and peaceful with very pleasant and cheerful staff. Website was not helpful as to find the restaurant menus it was easier to go to them. Swimming pool seemed a bit small for such a large hotel. For some guests it may be a bit far from the village centre. Already looking forward to returning next year.

Best hotel
Excellent! The accommodations was excellent, beautiful view of the mountains. The staff, starting from the reception to housekeeping went above to ensure COVID safety and ensure we had everything we needed in our room. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet and save place to visit during the pandemic.

France in SA, Le Franschhoek is the place to be!
The hotel is situated at the foot of the mountain and from a location point of view gives you the best views one can find in the area. The staff are about the friendliest you can get and the General Manager is hands on with his teams he manages as this property is large and has many areas to take care of and ensure guests are satisfied with their overall experience like the pool area, the gardens which is well maintained and has themes flowing from one to the other. To keep it in this shape one requires an eye for attention to detail and on the ball remedy. The dining and bar area is well staffed and trained with pleasant people to take care of your needs. I will definitely recommend and be back to experience this place with my family. A stone throw from the main town as well but more importantly away from the hustle and bustle.

Hotel in lovely setting but needs updating . Bathrooms in need of refurbishment and air con not working properly. Pool needs heating .

Fantastic location at the head of the Franschhoek valley. The villas are in need of some urgent maintenance. They are starting to feel very tired.

Amazing property with a chargeable service into town (approx 10 mins) if you choose not to drive. This spa was amazing and our massages were great to finish our hectic trip across eastern and western cape. The spa and hotel is sheer class it’s gardens and views are stunning . Every room seems to have a beautiful view of some sort, we had fab gardens out of the right window and a view of the side gardens fountain and main lodge from the front. When you turned out towards the car all we saw were gardens fields and mountains it was great. Staff were very good but we were a little disappointed at breakfast. Lots of staff around and we were greeted very nicely but no one came to see if we needed more tea or coffee, we had to order eggs but they came overdone and then there was no bacon at the station , when my husband asked he was told it was still being cooked hence eggs were cold. I think topping up of the hot food could be better and staff standing talking when guests are left without drinks was possibly the worse attention to detail at breakfast we had received throughout our two weeks. Saying that the place it’s self was amazing and other areas exceeded our expectations hence without hesitation we would return. If you go please book int the Foliage restaurant in town it’s amazing food service and a great experience as you watch your food being cooked by great chefs. Vegan and vegetarian options are unique too . It’s possibly the best food I have ever tasted.

Beautiful Franschhoek retreat
Lovely hotel with beautiful gardens and amazing views of the mountains, from the welcome bubbles to the excellent breakfast, we had a fabulous stay. Service all round was really exceptional!

Beautiful setting, brilliant staff
Absolutely beautiful setting!! The staff was very welcoming and the reception was personal and warm. The facilities are slightly dated and have seen fair wear and tear, nothing a little TLC and an update won't solve. The breakfast was lovely with the dining area enjoying one of the most exquisite views of the valley.

Stort og fint rom. Litt uheldige med toalett som lakk og maur på badet. Men det ordnet de fort. God mat og godt vinutvalg, samt veldig god frokost. Behjelpelige med transport rundt om i nærområdet. Pent hotel i fantastiske omgivelser.

Grosse Villa mit sehr guten Ausstattung. Nur jetzt im Winter etwas kalt (nur Luftheizung). Die Badezimmer (z.B. Kleine Waschbecken) eher ‚minimalistisch‘ und vielleicht verbessbar. Das Frühstück ist grandios und das Personal super nett.

Fantastic stay over the weekend the staff from security to reception ladies dining staff and maintenance staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Will most definitely come back for a relaxing weekend 👍👍👍
