Vacationing during the pandemic isn't easy, but this house is great. It's secluded, yet it only takes two minutes to walk to a park/snorkeling beach, a rocky swim beach, and the launch points for kayaks/captain cook trips. The kitchen was big/equipped enough to cook for our large (14) group; the wifi reached everywhere in the house; the onsite caretaker and owner were friendly and super-helpful recommending places to see, grocery stores, and restaurants to order from.
we loved the privacy. the house was cozy like it was our own home. our two weeks here flew by all too quickly.
on the amazing, we're-so-glad-we-found-this-place side:
1) the snorkeling at manini beach was amazing. it's in the same kealakekua bay as captain cook, but it's two minutes away and free.
2) the waves at the rocky beach brought so much joy to our family's swim times.
3) the seclusion from other people brought us peace, and it made us feel safe during this pandemic.
Three things to keep in mind as you look at this place:
1) wow, there's lots of insects in this part of hawaii. Most of them didn't bite, but it was disconcerting how they flew/crawled around us on the lanai each evening...
2) the upstairs loft area got pretty hot, and it didn't really have enough fans/cooling options.
