Review of alternate but better property than what we originally rented: Baywatch Casa, main house
The property we originally rented was not available due to "roof repair" and we were notified about a month before the trip. While this was not ideal, Kingfisher offered money back, same rental next year or alternate property. We chose the latter and were given a great deal. The Baywatch Casa house was huge, overlooking Roosevelt channel with its own dock and kayaks, and its own outdoor saltwater pool. The large screened in porch and deck area which connected to both the kitchen and living room had a wonderful view of the channel and all its wildlife. We had to walk 1/2 mile south on Captiva Rd to access the gulf beach, but this was doable. Nice beach chairs and towels were provided. The house was well appointed, especially the kitchen, and we got to break in a new gas grill on the deck. We had more room than we knew what to do with as we only had 4 people there, as this house could accommodate many more. The privacy was very nice, with 3 other smaller houses on the same property but only the dock area was shared. While I was initially upset with Kingfisher for waiting so long to notify me about the unavailability of the property I had initially rented (and that whole building really was NOT in rental shape, having seen it now), the customer service thereafter was great and I would recommend this property and its rental agency. Captiva is in much better shape than Sanibel post-hurricane, FYI, and there are enough services and eateries to easily get by.
