We booked here last minute. Based on the online photos we thought it was maybe an up and coming little boutique motel. Everything seemed nice and good at check in, then we got into our room… there was feces and blood on the bathroom wall. There was stuff on the shower floor. The toilet, shower door and sink had not been cleaned. There were stains all over the carpet and walls. The sheets were stained and had long black hairs everywhere. This was one of the worst experiences we’ve had and will never be coming back.

This place was really cute on the outside and had super potential. Our actual room was so gross, from the toilet and shower to the fridge and countertops. I was so thankful that we were there to basically sleep only.

Where to begin...the room looked tidy and since we hadnt slept in 36hours due to air delays we grabbed dinner at a great Mexican spot and then couldn't get back in our room. Key card worked, door handle didnt. The clerk said we just needed to jiggle it...alot. but we did get in after 2 minutes of jiggling and prepared to get ready for bed even tho it was only 8. Oh no. There is no soap or shampoo. Back across the parking lot for 2 bars of soap 1/8" thick with a diameter of 1 1/2". Jumped in the spacious walkin shower and no where to put soap or shampoo except on the floor of the shower. Not easy when you are both in your seventies. Great bed/very comfortable but the next morning we have a small coffeemaker and coffee but no basket to hold the coffee (it wasnt the type that have the coffee and basket in the pouch) or cups. Get dressed and back across the parking lot to be told they have coffee in the lobby. But I had to get dressed to get it. But i did grab a cup for water to take my meds with. There was free breakfast but the bite size bagels were too small for the toaster and you had to eat your cereal with a fork. All in all a miserable experience although every time i had a problem they said they would make a note of it...including my suggestion that tissues would be nice instead of blowing your nose on toilet paper. I didnt miss that they was no fitness equipment because i got plenty of exercise jiggling the door handle and walking to ge office.

Cleanliness was the number one issue The shower and toilet room have poor clean but the vanity area had not been cleaned at all. Also had a very dirty mirror and the fronts and sides of the cabinets all needed to be wiped down. Careless dusting of the room. The air conditioning unit was very noisy and had to be shut off in order to sleep.

Excellent room, friendly helpful folks.The bathroom was fantastic !!! An absolute best value 1 Anyone going to Carlsbad for any reason should stay here. We hopefully will be back !

So close to being a nice hotel. They really need to work on cleanliness. Also the rooms have harsh, overhead lights with only 1 lamp. Hthat lamp has a bright white bulb. Breakast is pretty pedestrian.

Had to be let into my room due to a dead battery on the door lock. TV box was bad, took almost an hour to get that figured out. they just need to bite the bullet and get some kind of better TV provider! The coffee was ice cold for breakfast, the waffle mix was like water and poured out of the waffle iron when it was turned! They need to stop nickel and diming!!! Other than that, they were nice at the front desk and the walk in shower was very nice

Room was unfortunately not clean. Refrigerator was not cleaned and smelled so bad we couldn’t even open it without the entire room smelling. Staff were really sweet. Breakfast was not stocked, most items you couldn’t even use (no waffle mix, no bowls for cereal). There are tons of reviews saying they were going to take the same feedback and make changes- this is not the case.

There was no WiFi/internet, which we were counting on to watch F1 and handle photo/video uploads. Our first room had a broken TV, so we were moved to another. Its was that TV where we learned that there are almost no channels. New room had a window unit that was so loud it actually sounded like there was a large truck out front. When I went to check out, they had locked themselves out of the office. True story. Sounds worse than it is. They were super friendly, everything was clean, beds were good overall, the whole place looked pretty nice. We were able to have some money with the generously sized mini fridge and the microwave. I will probably go back. It seems like a great place and they’re just snatching defeat out of the jaws of success.
