Here you'll find privacy, peace, and beauty at your own vacation acre tucked into a gorgeous setting just off the Carrabelle River, with great views of Postum Bayou and St. George Sound .

Set among quietly rustling pines, Bayou Retreat is far removed from highway bustle and noisy crowds. Fish off your private dock, watch the sun set, and enjoy the sweeping views across the bay while you grill your catch on our spacious deck. Bald eagles, ospreys, and Florida’s beautiful wading birds will delight the nature lover in you.

From the airy great room, look out across the water while you dine, and from the deck enjoy brilliant star-gazing at night. The two spacious bedrooms, each with its own roomy bath, feature waterfront views. The kitchen provides plenty of room to cook the shrimp and scallops you buy right off the boat in Carrabelle’s renowned seafood markets.

Want to shell and swim? It's just over one mile to Carrabelle’s lovely municipal sands.

Bringing your own boat? Five minutes from the private dock takes you into the Bay, where you can fish, cruise with dolphins and sting rays, and watch pelicans and bald eagles swoop out of the sky. In less than fifteen minutes reach the pristine jewel of Dog Island, where you can shell and sunbathe far from the crowds.

Ready for a night out? Conveniently located 15 minutes from St. George Island Bridge, and 25 minutes from Apalachicola, our home welcomes you to a wealth of shopping, dining, and exploring.

Bayou Retreat is truly a secret corner of the Forgotten Coast!

Tate’s Hell Nature Trail, St. Marks Wildlife Refuge with great hiking, alligator-gar filled pools and beautiful dome cyprus swamps, the historic Carrabelle Lighthouse and Museum, Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum, charter fishing, glass-bottom boat rides at Wakulla Springs, and Panacea's Gulf Specimen Marine Lab with touch pools for children. Drive 20 minutes to the charming town of Apalachicola, with its quaint shops and numerous restaurants.
