Four of us (myself, wife, mother and sister in law) spent 9 wonderful days just outside of Castelfiorintino. This is a classic Tuscan countryside home, with the downstairs space for the kitchen and dinning area, along with access to a private patio and a deck. Upstairs (the first floor) has a large living room with couch, loveseat TV and plenty of space, the bedrooms are all separated and give everyone plenty of space and privacy. There are 3 full bathrooms all located on the first floor.
The kitchen is well appointed and we enjoyed sitting on the deck every morning enjoying breakfast with a fantastic view (it is Tuscany after all!) And made a few dinners (when we didn't feel like going out) and sat in the privacy of our own patio. The pool is across from the house (there's a dirt road separating the house from the pool area - requiring maybe a 30 meter walk).
We loved the quiet country setting, and Marilla our host was fantastic and quite helpful with recommendations for dining and wine tour recommendations. We used the pool almost every afternoon after returning from touring the area and prior to going out for dinner in the evening, it was a wonderful way to cool off and relax. Overall, we had a wonderful time!
I will provide 2 caveats to US travelers: 1. There is no AC in the house, but there are plenty of fans and we chose to visit in September when the days were warm, but the nights cool, so it wasn't an issue for us. 2nd, there are no bug screens on the windows, so for those who are 'mosquito bait', you will want to bring some means to protect yourself...again, it wasn't a show stopper, but good to know.
