Located 10 km from Sarlat and 2.5 km from Castelnaud la Chapelle (shops, river swimming), this 80 m² house is semi-detached to another 'Gîtes de France' rental (ref. 24G041123) and farm buildings. Ground floor. Living room with kitchenette. Two bedrooms: one with two single beds (90 cm) and the other with one double bed (140 cm). Bathroom. Separate WC. Electric heating. Covered shelter. Unfenced 940 m² garden with terrace, garden furniture, sun loungers, and barbecue. Baby equipment: 1 cot.
A covered shelter for a car and motorcycle is located opposite the house. Located on a working walnut farm in the Dordogne Valley, opposite the village of Beynac, this cottage is perfectly suited for cultural or nature-filled holidays. Activities include visiting castles (Château de Beynac, Château de Castelnaud, Château des Milandes, etc.), strolling through villages, ten of which are listed among the 'Most Beautiful Villages of France' (La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud, Limeuil, etc.), taking a barge trip or canoeing on the Dordogne River, and visiting gardens (Eyrignac, Marqueyssac, etc.). Marked hiking trails are 500 meters away.

  • This will ever be known as the chateau of Josephine Baker. She had been a singer of international renown with an extraordinary career. Born in the States in 1906, she emigrated to France and became a citizen in 1937 when she married a Jew, but not before knowing the street life in America where she’d had to sleep in cardboard shelters and scavenge in garbage bins. For ten years she was the lead in the Folies Bergeres, and admired by all who saw her. Shirley Bassey once said, “I swear in all my life I have never seen, and probably never shall see again, such a spectacular singer and performer." During WWII She won the Croix de Guerre for her work with the French Resistance. When the Germans invaded France she moved to the chateau where she helped Belgian refugees and ultimately adopted 12 children. She was the first Afro-American to star in a major motion picture (Zouzou) and was the only female speaker in the civil rights march to Washington with Martin Luther King and was offered the lead in the movement when he was assassinated but she declined. When the builders refurbishing the chateau sent her almost broke, Grace Kelly, a close friend, offered her accommodation on the Riviera.
