- This countryside retreat is a perfect base for couples or solo travellers who want to see more of the unspoilt coast and rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway. Just 2 miles away, Auchenlarie Beach is a hidden gem which is ideal for morning swims or sunset walks, while the golden sands of Mossyard (2 miles) and Sandgreen (9 miles) are within a short drive and offer peaceful spots for paddling and picnics. The village of Gatehouse of Fleet (6 miles) has a gentle 3-mile circular walk through Cally Woods, along with a choice of cafes and pubs for a post-walk bite. Cyclists can hop on several scenic routes straight from the doorstep. Art lovers will enjoy Kirkcudbright (12 miles), known for its galleries and harbour charm, while Castle Douglas (18 miles) is great for picking up Scottish produce.
Make your way up three steps to the veranda and into this handcrafted, wooden-clad shepherd's hut. Cleverly designed to maximise both space and light, the open design feels warm and inviting, with a gently curved ceiling adding to its cosy character. The living area includes comfortable seating, a Smart TV, and a wood burner, while the compact kitchenette is well-equipped for preparing hearty meals that can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar.
