Free-range Orpington chickens next door and dark skies above. Quiet, completely private, and genuinely comfortable. The village pub and shop is a 3-minute walk — but you probably won't want to leave the garden.

The region is a paradise for walking, cycling, and water sports. It hosts five of the 7Stanes mountain bike trails and the Galloway Forest Park, which includes 300 square miles of forest, lochs, and red deer.

Nearby charming towns include Kirkcudbright (the Artists' Town), Castle Douglas (the Food Town), and Gatehouse of Fleet offer galleries, local boutiques, and cafes.
