Time Capsule - 1930s Cabin

Travel in space and time. Venture into the woods to a mountain getaway nestled in the trees with peeks of the Lake. This well-loved 1930s cabin, adorned entirely in wood and stone, full of goodness and light, welcomes you to join the vintage charm of its era.

Located in the desirable Palisades, and close to everything, explore without straying far from the warmth of the cabin's stone fireplace, soul-lifting vaulted ceilings, and comforts that invite rest for body, mind, and spirit.
The space
This is a tree-nestled cabin adorned in its original 1930s stone and wood.

Easy flat access, plowed roads, parking for 2 cars (not more), beautiful views, well-located.

Entry (middle) level: living room, kitchen, panoramic breakfast nook, bathroom, and a bedroom with a full-size bed. There are two decks that together form a large wrap around deck that spans half the house . Squirrels and birds abound. No integrated A/C on this level.

Lower level: Master BR, ensuite bathroom (with clawfoot tub), brand new washer-dryer, and its own sliding door to the backyard. No integrated A/C on this level.

Upper level: bathroom, and two small bedrooms (not separated by doors from one another). One BR (very small and not separated by a door - only a curtain) has a twin size bed and a chair. The other has bunk beds, a small seating area with small desk, and a lovely view of trees below (and from Autumn to early Spring, a view of the Lake through the trees). Built-in ductless A/C unit in the upstairs space.

Central Heating throughout this 3-level home.

There is now (installed August 2022) a built-in, ductless A/C unit on the top floor, which is where it gets the warmest. For other areas, we have several portable fans and one rolling A/C unit. But note that, without central/house-wide A/C, some spaces can get quite warm during hot summer days.

2 TVs (1 on the main level and 1 on the lower level in the master).

We have a grill. Please let us know if you plan to use it.

Sorry, but as much as we love pets, this rental is unfortunately not well-suited for pets.

The house is a good size, but note that some of the spaces appear in the pics a bit bigger than the reality. The total square footage is 1500SF. Bits of the decor vary from from the pics.
Guest access
All spaces. Entire cabin. Up to 6 adults in your group, and up to 7 guests total counting children (as one pair of beds is a bunk). Please specify in your booking request the number of adults and children in your party.

Parking is easy, for 2 cars, in our level-entry driveway. There is no street parking.

The lake itself and its trails are private access and do not come with this reservation. You can enjoy the lake from the Village with gorgeous lakeside dining or from the lakeside Boardwalk area. There are various public hiking trails around town, including the expansive and stunning Will Abell Memorial Trail at Arrowhead Ridge, some 5 miles west.

Parking is easy with our level entry driveway.
We have parking for up to 2 cars. There is no street parking.

Pets are unfortunately not allowed in the cabin.

The house accommodates a max of 6 adults, and 7 people total. This includes any visitors.

This special cabin is a relaxing vacation house for you and yours, rather than a party house. Thank you and enjoy!
