Our host was accommodating, phoned us on the day of our arrival and offered us availability for potential needs or questions. We arrived to wildflowers covering the meadow-like grounds.A charming boat house beacons you to explore the remaining estate, including the main house.A hammock near the lake and dock greets visitors, inviting them to relax. The estate is surrounded by the blue waters of Lake Huron and magnificent pine tree forests. The main house is welcoming, comfortably grand, sprawling and open. The houses emit rustic elegance. A spacious kitchen allows for multiple family cooks because many hands make work light. Our family was at maximum capacity and never felt crowded. There are multiple porches/decks and places to escape too, if quiet time is needed. We were concerned about being on an island and needing incidentals. All incidentals were provided by the owners. Our family was thrilled to experience the invigorating 2 outdoor showers (there are 2 indoor showers, as well). It allowed us to feel one with nature, while showering. All of us were intrigued by the incinerator toilet which functioned efficiently. We recommend if not traveling to the island on your own boat, to partner with one of the local boat rental companies who are great at assisting in navigating the local waters. The estate is close to Mackinac Island and part of the historic Les Cheneaux archipelago islands, providing many exploration opportunities. We would love to stay again.
