“First time here nice place with character only comment I would make car parking bit tight as I was in a van and not a lot of spaces however parking available near by”

“Although I’ve marked everything as excellent, I have to point out that the signature plus townhouse double room is accessed by a steep set of stairs into what was the basement. However it is a very nice room and the bathroom, again accessed by more stairs down (5), is also lovely. If this was pointed out on the Expedia website, I missed it. “My wife and I stayed for just one night. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff and proprietor were very friendly and helpful. We dined in the evening and breakfasted the following morning. The food was good and service efficient, friendly and courteous. Our room was warm and clean and the bed very comfortable. What more do you need from a hotel? We will definitely stay should we go back to the area.”

“Really nice place. Friendly and very helpful. Only a one night stay this time which was a pity because I enjoyed a longer stay last time and would have liked to stay a bit longer this time. The restaurant is closed on Mondays but plenty of other options a short walk away in the high street. I would ahve liked to eat at Candlesticks though becuase the food there was excellent last time. ”

“Started off badly with the room we were issued having a drainage issue causing a bad smell in the room. We spoke to staff through Expedia who offered us a different room. The staff were helpful and made the change in rooms easy and after the bad start everything after was good. Nice quiet place, rooms are nice to look at and clean ”

Great food in the Hancock Kitchen (less formal of the 2 restaurants) - didn’t eat at the more formal one. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at for many many years. Encourage anyone to visit.”

“I received a warm welcome and the room was clean and spacious. There was fresh milk and fresh fruit available in the mini-fridge, which was thoughtful; also, delicious home made chocolate cake! This suited me perfectly for a one-night stopover on my travels.”
