Like all of our Wauhatchie Woodlands cabins, River and Bryce Cabins are your mountain hideaway located only five minutes from Chattanooga. They offer a unique group retreat sleeping up to 8 guests. Each cabin features its own furnished back deck and covered front porch with charcoal grill, while sharing a hot tub/swim spa and fire pit. Both accommodate 4 guests each with a main bedroom and sleeping loft.
The Space:
Wauhatchie Woodlands is a family-owned collection of quaint, tiny-home, rustic-comfort log cabins on a 14-acre wooded property surrounded by National Park land. This natural setting is nestled less than a mile from the city with quick access to downtown Chattanooga, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, and the surrounding area.
Named after Frank & Nicole's twin boys, River and Bryce Cabins offer a unique opportunity to gather your group across two connected retreats. Together sleeping up to 8 guests, these twin cabins share a swim spa, hot tub, and fire pit while each provides its own private outdoor living spaces and fully equipped interiors.
Your Cabins
Each cabin comfortably sleeps up to 4 guests between the main bedroom and sleeping loft, and is equipped with everything you need to make the most of your time in Chattanooga—full kitchen, Smart TV, private washer dryer combo, and more.
Both cabins feature spacious, furnished back decks that connect the properties, with the luxury hot tub and swim spa positioned between them for easy access from either master bedroom. Each cabin also offers its own covered front porch with dining set—the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or grilling out on your dedicated charcoal grill (guests must provide their own charcoal).
Inside Your Cabins
Inside, each main bedroom hosts a queen bed, closets for hanging clothes, ample drawer storage, and a Smart TV. Just outside the bedroom is your dedicated washer and dryer combo unit on one side and the full bathroom with bathtub on the other.
A step further you'll enter the kitchen, fully stocked for cooking and dining with an electric range, microwave, stove, full-size fridge, dishwasher, and all the dishes you need to whip up a vacation feast. The living room and kitchen feature an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and the main TV positioned across from the sofa.
Up the staircase is the sleeping loft equipped with two twin beds. Kids will love having their own space. For grownups, clearance in the loft is low, just 4'—it's perfect for sleeping, just watch your head when you get up.
Outdoor Amenities
Between the cabins, you'll enjoy a shared luxury hot tub and swim spa, plus a fire pit perfect for fireside chats and evening s'mores. Firewood can be purchased on-property.
Important Noise Disclosure
Chattanooga is a city known for its railroads. There are active train tracks that border the property to the north and I-24 is about half a mile away. Guests will hear ambient train and highway noise, particularly at night when background sounds are quieter. Each cabin has been equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize any disturbance. If you are a light sleeper or particularly sensitive to noise, please consider whether this property is the right fit for your needs before booking.
Additional Information
We are pleased to allow dogs at both cabins under specific terms and conditions. See our house rules/notes for more information.
Pack 'n Play travel cribs are available upon request.
Sprout General Store recently opened on the Wauhatchie Woodlands grounds. Grab a coffee (fueled by Roasted Root Cafe) to start your morning, treat yourself to ice cream, pick up a map with activity ideas, and browse Timberroot merch and local goods—everything you need is within just steps of your cabin.
To make sure your stay at Wauhatchie Woodlands is perfect, our locally based Guest Services representatives are on-call from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm, seven days a week.
Guest Access:
You’ll have your cabin all to yourself during your stay. Wauhatchie Woodlands is a 14-acre property surrounded by National Forest. Guests have access to trails around the grounds, as well as shared pavilions, community fire pits, and playground. Please be respectful of other guests during your stay.
The Neighborhood:
Wauhatchie Woodlands sits in Lookout Valley, a scenic pocket of Southeast Tennessee tucked between the Tennessee River and the base of Lookout Mountain. It’s close enough to Chattanooga to explore, yet far enough to feel like you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is nestled right at the base of the mountain with 12 miles of hiking trails and canoe rentals to paddle scenic Lookout Creek. Those trails connect directly up the mountain, where Rock City, Ruby Falls, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns round out the adventure. When you're ready for a bite or a night out, downtown Chattanooga is only minutes away.
Fall is a full season in Lookout Valley. September brings Ironman Chattanooga through downtown, five minutes away, and Rock City opens its Enchanted Pumpkin Patch up the mountain from September 18 through October 31. Mid-October through early November is peak leaf season here, with the valley's pastures and foothills making for an easy scenic drive. Downtown fills up too, with Wine Over Water at Renaissance Park on October 10, World of Bluegrass October 20–24, and Head of the Hooch at Ross's Landing the first weekend of November, one of the largest rowing regattas in the country. Wauhatchie Woodlands keeps you close to all of the autumn action.
Getting Around:
To make the most of your stay, we recommend a car to get around. Each of our tiny cabins can accommodate two cars in private driveways.
UBER and Lyft are available throughout the Chattanooga area, in addition to a number of local taxi services. Please note that availability may be extremely limited during peak times.
The city of Chattanooga offers reasonably priced parking on the street and in several public parking lots.
Other Things to Note:
Trains & Noise:
Wauhatchie Woodlands is located in a charming woodland setting just minutes from downtown Chattanooga. As Chattanooga is a city with a rich railroad history, there are active train tracks that border the property to the north, and I-24 is approximately half a mile away. Guests will hear ambient train and highway noise, particularly at night when background sounds are quieter.
We want to ensure you have realistic expectations for your stay. Each cabin is equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize disturbance, and many guests find the sounds become part of the natural rhythm of their retreat. However, if you are a light sleeper or particularly sensitive to noise, this property may not be the best fit for your needs.
Pet Policy:
We are pleased to allow dogs at both River and Bryce Cabins under specific terms and conditions. See our house rules/notes for more information.
Deposits:
Please note that guests under 21 or guests residing in the Greater Chattanooga Metropolitan Area will be charged a $200 refundable deposit subsequent to receiving their booking confirmation. Please review our policy forbidding parties, events, and unregistered guests to ensure your stay abides by this policy and does not jeopardize your deposit.
No Smoking:
Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited inside Timberroot properties. Refer to the rental agreement to see these policies and the additional fees that occur if you fail to follow them.
Woodland Setting:
Our properties are nestled in beautiful wooded areas that offer a peaceful retreat into nature. As with any natural setting, guests may occasionally encounter insects or small woodland creatures during their stay. We work diligently with professional pest control services and take preventative measures to maintain comfortable accommodations.
If you do encounter any unwelcome visitors inside your cabin, please contact our Guest Services team immediately so we can address the situation promptly. We ask that guests help us maintain a pest-free environment by keeping doors and window screens closed and maintaining general cleanliness during their stay.
We appreciate your understanding that being surrounded by nature means occasionally sharing space with its smaller inhabitants, and we're always here to help ensure your comfort.
Surveillance Cameras:
Please note that for your safety, cabins may have a camera located on the front porch, facing outwards monitoring activity in front of the cabin (including driveway and roads).
Check-In/Out:
Check-in begins at 4:00 pm on the day of your arrival and check-out is at 10:00 am on your last day. Please contact Guest Services if you would like to request a different arrangement.
Interaction with Guests:
All of our cabins are equipped with keyless entry systems that make check-in and check-out a fully automated process. Full instructions will be provided prior to your check-in date.
If you have any questions, comments, or experience any difficulties during your stay, our team of dedicated, locally based Guest Services representatives are on-call and available to help from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm every day.
