“The hotel room was clean. I asked for the eco service but still didn’t receive towels. At check-in I felt very rushed. As I was entering my information, I was asked for my passport, then in reaching for my passport they wanted me typing my information. Three front desk staff talking and explaining while checking in. Difficult getting a taxi. Anytime I went to the desk I was treated like I was bothering them. After traveling throughout Japan, this is not the hospitality of other top Japanese...

“While this is an older hotel, it is clean, things are in working order, and rather charming and unique. For example, I had a large room with a small patio that offered a beautiful view of the city. “This was a pretty cool stay. It really feels like your at a traditional style Japanese Inn! We did both of the private onsens and they were awesome; One option is a wooden bath and the other is a stone bath, both options have an indoor and outdoor bath. It rained on our visit to the outdoor stone bath and it was a great experience, they supply hats for the rain too if you want. We also did the breakfast and dinners. You get a lot of food for both, so make sure you're hungry, the food is pretty...

“The name of the hotel is not what I expected. I reserved “comfort hotel” when arrive in Nagano nobody knew this name. Went to info a the station , a very nice lady called the phone # that I have. Hotel has been renamed 2 years ago in “smile hotel” Very confusing. Rooms are tiny, small bed for 2. Paid $350 for a $50 hotel room. Super old room, old tiny bathroom. Do not come here”

“Very unique traditional onsen experience! Staff were very kind and helpful. Only stayed on night but it was perfect, very close to Yudanaka train station and Snow Monkey Park bus station, and only a mile walk from Shibu Hot Springs! Thank you very much. ”
