This is a nice property on a slough off the Columbia river. We had a boat and jet ski. The docks were great. Jim and has family are great people and advised us for navigation and fishing. We will return. The Salter’s

Peaceful

Quiet and great view. Huge house and property. Wish it had better kitchen supplies like pots and pans. The view from kitchen is amazing and dinning room is far better than a restaurant so you will want to stay and cook there!

I wouldn't say this property can sleep 10. The pullout sofa was incredibly uncomfortable -- my teen couldn't even sleep on it and kids have young backs! The location on the river was beautiful. We were visiting relatives in town, so it was ideally located.

Get Away

We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed. Beautiful views, and it was fun to watch the freighters. Everyone enjoyed swimming. The area is by the water, so, there are a lot of spiders and webs on the decks. Also, having the owner on the property was helpful at times, however, made for a lack of privacy too.

Overall satisified!

Great getaway from city to cool and calm down - nice view, great river breeze, and kind host. As sitting close to the river, should expect a bit of driving to explore nearby attractions.

Best getaway

We had the most amazing stay. Jim was the best host and made sure we had all we needed. He was extremely helpful and always there to answer any questions. The house was perfect too! We got to fish off our dock and relax in the privacy of our own space. There was plenty of room for my family and everyone enjoyed the area. We are already looking forward to going back soon!

Sportsmans Paradise

This place was fantastic! Very clean. Location was perfect for us as we wanted somewhere a little private. It's on a dead end road and was very quiet. Owner communication was superb and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Incredibly Scenic, Well Kept Property

I was looking for a relatively secluded place to gather and simply visit and relax with extended family, including a 4mo old nephew and father in law in his 80s. It was fantastic! The kitchen was large and generously outfitted, the house is comfortable and spacious, and Jim was a great host. He let us borrow his kayak for paddling around on the river, and even shared some produce from a small community garden across the street. And the location is incredibly scenic. I would absolutely recommend it if you’re looking for a quiet getaway.

Father’s Day Special

Having my two sons and three grandsons for a week is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day. Jim and his son couldn’t have done anything more to make the stay anymore pleasant. This wasn’t our first stay and not likely to be our last. And the best of the trip was the youngest grandson landing a shiny chrome steelhead on our last drift for sockeye.

Family holiday gathering

The property is beautiful. So relaxing on the River. Loved all the wildlife we got to enjoy watching. Jim was friendly and willing to make any needs we had happen. We talked about some changes that would help make the house a bit more comfortable and he was anxious to get them done. Would be wonderful to be there in warmer weather.

Columbia River living

The property is set in an idyllic location on the Columbia River. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and the opportunities to enjoy the river. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. Jim is a first class owner who is incredibly attentive and thoughtful to guests. Outstanding!

Quiet retreat

This home was clean and beautifully decorated in a fish/ duck theme. We loved being right on the river and clatskanie had the services we needed. We found it a great place to use as home base for our day trips (banks-verninia state trail and astoria/ fort Stevens). Nearby beaver falls was worth the short winding drive. The neighborhood itself was very quiet and just what we needed. Home was well stocked but could use some more coffee mugs, bowls, and a kettle in the kitchen. Home was spacious for our family of 7. While Jim was not in town during our stay he was easy to reach via phone and helpful. Boathouse and fishing was a great experience for us but we found the boathouse in very filthy condition from previous renters with rotting food and bait left in there and kitchen knives in the boathouse as well. We didn't catch any fish :( but we don't know what we were doing.

Family Outing

My two sons and two grandsons and I had a wonderful week at Jim’s Sportsman’s Paradise. So much so they’ve come up with new reasons to go again and then repeat this trip. I think I agree with them too.

Beautiful stay

We were very happy with everything involved in our stay. The property was everything and more than we had hoped for. If we come out again we will definitely try and book this property again. Breath taking views, clean comfortable and relaxing. For our first family vacation we were beyond pleased

Very nice, clean, well equipped house

We had a great time! Everything worked very well and the house was well stocked with linens, dishes and so forth to make our stay really nice. The owner/host was very easy to deal with and was very generous in offering even more than we asked for, in many ways, such as a free extra night. I highly recommend this house and would return, if the need arises!

Great summer getaway

Spent a summer weekend here to escape the heat in the city. The house is great place to just relax and get away from it all. Beautiful peaceful views. House was plenty big enough and had everything 7 people needed to be comfortable. Jim was great with communications and flexible without check out. Thanks for a great stay!

A great place you could definitely call it home away from home.

So What can I say, if your looking for peacefulness and beauty surrounded all over and not to mention you forget about work as well then this is the place for you. My family enjoyed staying here vary much and Hospitality was above my expectations. Mr. Miller went above and beyond and I can’t thank him enough. The house was equipped with everything you may need and great interior and exterior design. The house view from front and backyard was just breathtaking. Great place for family get together and fishing also exploring around and not to mention we were surprised by Mr. Miller with his boat tour that was just amazing. Thank You

A true sportsman paradise

This river front house is perfect. It is located close to town yet far enough to be quite and peaceful. Sitting on the dock fishing was great. The interior decoration is excellent. We was able to get a Sturgeon trip in and caught a few. The river is full of fish. The owner came by and he was help and educational, it was a nice to speak with him. Pre stay he mentioned places to eat and gave very good directions to the house. The pizza place in town was extremely good. The coffee shop is where the tackle shop is. It is well stocked and has frozen baits, the coffee there is pretty good also. For a sportsman it doesn't get any better than this. I recommend staying here and will stay here again if I am back in this part of the country.

better than expected

This was our first time staying at Sportman's Paradise. We hope it won't be our last. The location was beautiful and quiet. The house is much nicer than the photographs show. Everything we needed was supplied and the kitchen had condiments and spices. The beds were comfortable, too. Really nice place. The views were amazing. And Jim Miller was really nice and helpful. Thank you for letting us enjoy your house!
