It’s also the gateway to Derwentwater, one of the region’s most beautiful lakes. In the opposite direction lies Cockermouth, a charming Georgian town known for its history and relaxed atmosphere. Birthplace of William Wordsworth, it offers a lovely mix of culture, independent shops, and cosy spots to stop for a coffee or lunch.
