We believe you will enjoy your stay here because we differentiate ourselves from others in the area. We are family owned and care about the property. No large corporations here. When you reach out for help and support, you will reach out to us. We take pride and ownership in providing a 5 star stay for all of our guest. Stay at the best! Excellent location-walkable to Grandview Ave/bars/restaurants/shops, close to Upper Arlington, OSU, several medical facilities, and downtown Columbus.
The space
This is an attractive red brick building built in the 1940's that has been completely renovated. There are four one story flats/apartments in the building. There are original hardwood floors that have been refinished. The bathroom has new sink, new white subway tile, new fixtures. There are new light fixtures and chandeliers throughout. There's a new kitchen with beautiful new oak countertops, new stainless appliances, and a beautiful vintage looking tile backsplash. Laundry facilities in basement. Nice backyard for pets. Clean, bright, sunny and spacious unit!
Guest access
You'll have your own private entrance to your apartment, and the unit is entirely occupied by only you and your guest. The laundry facilities in the basement and all outside amenities are shared by all four units.
Other things to note
There is private parking off street in the lot in the rear of the building as well as free on street parking right in front of the building.

  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The Gatsby

Husband and I had a wonderful stay. Great place close to medical facilities, OSU campus and lots of nice restaurants as well as grocery stores and other shopping. Mark was an excellent host !

The Gatsby was clean and nicely kept, with fun "Gatsby" themed decor. Access to wifi, printer (although we didn't need/use). We enjoyed the private back patio with plenty of seating and a hot tub - met another couple and had a really great conversation. Within quick drive of OSU, all of Grandview, North Market and downtown, German Village. Was able to find parking on the street. Has an alley garage, but very tight so didn't park there. While a cute and clean building and apt., there were a few slight cons that we felt need to be addressed in order to receive a 5-star rating: There was no curtain on the bathroom window, which looked directly into at least 3 of the neighbor's windows (buildings close) - we messaged host through the Expedia/VRBO message app upon arrival... after about 40 min. wait we purchased a spring rod and threw a towel over it; bathroom floor tiles in front of tub were loose and missing grout - moved when stepped on; the metal bedframe was very rickety and squeaky upon slightest movement, although the mattress was more comfortable than most hotels we've stayed in; the loveseat in the front room is a bit run down - could use a cleaning and restuffed back pillows; back door code pad did not work, so we just kept it locked while there and used front door. Would have liked host to respond to our message about the lack of bathroom curtain. Sharing a cell number would help. A little TLC in these areas would bring it up to 5-star.
