Overall this house was decent for the money. The location was nice in regard to the beach, but I will warn if you, if you’re family struggles with stairs, this house nor this beach is the right pick for you. The house does not have an elevator and the beach access has multiple sets of stairs in order to gain access to the beach. If you plan on cooking, you will need to bring your own set of non stick pots and pans because there are none that work in the kitchen. Aside from the cookware, the kitchen was fully stocked in all other areas. One downfall was the laundry being outside in a little storage room. Upon opening the door, cockroaches dispersed on multiple occasions. We also killed cockroaches on the stairwell. The pool was decent but much smaller than anticipated and doesn’t fit more than 4 people comfortably. The grass area where the horseshoe pit is located was not mowed until the end of our trip. We had a minor issue upon arriving and maintenance arrived to tend to the issue within minutes which was super impressive. They volunteered to come spray our house after we reported the cockroaches but we declined because there wasn’t a “right time” that fit our schedule. It was just unfortunate that the issues wasn’t tended to prior to us arriving.

Quiet and fun!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The place was clean and the listing was more or less accurate to what we would be getting. The only things I would say to be aware of (not bad per se) is that the pool is a lot smaller than I perceived it to be via the pictures and the outdoor shower causes flooding within the driveway because area under the house is graded weird. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Location

This property could use a few minor updates, but it’s overall very nice. It was a little snug with 12 people, and while the pool was a fine size for the kids, note that it is on the smaller side. The proximity to the beach is spectacular. It was a lovely stay. Highly recommended for beach lovers!

Winter break vacation

We decided last minute to make a trip to the Outer Banks for the week between Christmas and New Years. Winter is ‘off season’ for OBX but anything we needed maintenance quickly responded (nothing major at all - we needed to know how to turn the water on to add water to the hot tub and how to change the thermostat). The kitchen was well stocked with a variety of pots and pans as well as baking dishes. This was a special trip - one of the family members was recently diagnosed with incurable cancer and this will be our last Christmas with them - the staff were so sweet and helpful as we preparing to come - it was a ‘Week of Joy’ for our family!

Great place for families.

Great place for younger people. Difficult for those who can't walk far or climb lots of stairs. The house was spacious and clean. You can hear the waves on the beach. You just cant see them.

Great location, needs upgrades

For the price we paid, we felt the home could have been in better shape. Bathrooms were small and a little dirty, as well as a wide gap between the floor and vanity/sink area that clearly needs to be fixed, the management company was quick to come and help fix the TV, however, the Dryer was not working and they said it would take some time to fix, but never got fixed. Location is great with easy access to the beach, however, I would not be excited to say in the home itself again.

Our stay

We stayed here June 12th thru the 19th 2021. The house has a great location and short walk to the beach. We sent them pictures of some stuff that was broken and was damaged right away and they were quick to offer to send someone out to fix it but we said no need just wanted them to not think it was us. Management was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed out stay with our dogs and loved the beach.

Great place

My family and I had a great time at Bernie's Bungalow!!! The layout of the home was great!! The private balconies off the bedrooms were a plus and the pool and hot tub were so nice to enjoy in the evenings!! The location of the home is just a very short walk to the beach...it was just perfect!!!

Much needed get away

This property was perfect and met our needs. It was clean. Right amount of space. Great location. Well stocked. Everyone loved it. The hiccup was the property management company. We had no bed linens or towels upon arrival. When communicating with the company, they said all were there and to look in the closets. Which we had already done. Once convinced that we did not have the items, the sheets and towels were delivered. The folks who delivered were so nice. Also, I asked manager if gas grill was there. I was told yes. There isn’t one. Also, there is no tiki bar or dart board. Nevertheless, the property itself was great. We would stay again.

Relaxing Stay

We were looking forward to a winter beach getaway. This house provided a lot of opportunity to achieve that. The wifi was really reliable and there were plenty of book and game options!! We discovered the fireplace was a decorative element and couldn't be used, unfortunately. It was a key driver in our home selection, so we were disappointed, but as luck would have it, the temperature was pretty moderate and the group was very apologetic. The wrap around deck was ideal every day and night for people, dog, and star watching. The direct access from the carport was fantastic for grocery hauling. The walking paths were great for dog walks and finding wildlife. The heater was very strong and the vibration (pictures on the walls and attic access panel) in the upper master took some time for this sensitive sleeper to get used to. There were ample dishes, glasses, cookware, and pantry storage. The cooking stone was great for non-frozen food, but some folks might not be familiar with this limitation. The people in this neighborhood take pride in their homes and property and it was easy to feel like home.

Loved the proximity to beach. Would definitely rent here again. Minor issues ( vacuums aren’t good, some rusted patio furniture, dirty grill, and not the cleanest) but we were able to make it work. House has everything you need. Close to shopping, activities and restaurants. Loved the pool and hot tub. Outside shower was amazing. Plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure.

Outdoor furniture was rusted and broken. Shower was small. House needs to be updated with new flooring and get rid of the carpet. Pool is really small.
