Welcome to Foxglove Cottage, a beautifully restored two-bedroom retreat.
We like to think of it as cottage charm with modern comfort. Located in the beautiful village of Staindrop, this pink-fronted gem is as pretty inside as it is outside.

The living room invites you to curl up on the corner sofa beside the electric log burner, while the 40-inch Smart TV makes movie nights irresistible. The stylish kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking, featuring all the essentials plus a breakfast bar for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Both bedrooms feature double beds, wall-mounted 32-inch Smart TVs, and generous storage — including a walk-in wardrobe, open shelving, drawers, and dressing tables. The bathroom offers a beautiful blend of modern design and classic comfort with a full-size bath and overhead shower. There is the option to use a single folding bed in the second room. This works well for people travelling with children, etc. Please do let us know ahead of time if you would like to make use of this, and we will provide extra linen.

We also have a travel cot, high chair and cutlery for the young ones. As well as reading materials, games and children's toys.

Outside, there is a private garden with decking and seating area.

There is free on street parking.

One well behaved dog is welcome.

Staindrop is a picture-perfect Durham village, home to a Spar grocery store, a country tearoom and restaurant, and a friendly local pub, all within walking distance.

Just 1.4 miles away, you’ll find the stunning Raby Castle Park & Gardens, complete with a farm shop, café, and gift store. A little further afield, explore:

Barnard Castle (5.6 miles) – historic market town with shops, cafés, and supermarkets (Lidl, Morrisons).

West Auckland (5.2 miles) – M&S Foodhall, Sainsbury’s, and restaurants.

The Vinery at Raby Castle, The Black Horse at Ingleton, and Hedlam Hall Hotel for dining nearby.

We provide complimentary tea and coffee, as well as shampoo, shower gel and soap. Other items provided during your stay are a washing-up pack, toilet roll and kitchen roll. These should last a couple of days.

The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.

Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
