  • Wow! This really is Timber VIEW!! Yes, with an emphasis on view. In winter, this lovely contemporary home is a skier's dream. It is a short walk to and from Timberline Mountain's Twister and Winterset trails. Weary skiers are sure to appreciate the outdoor hot tub. Spring, summer and fall visitors will enjoy wonderful views and easy access to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Resort, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and more. The generous loft provides room for puzzling or game playing. With two living rooms, there is plenty of space to separate the teens, tweens, and adults. Timber View might just become your go-to when planning some mountain time in Canaan Valley. Four-wheel drive vehicles are definitely required for winter access.

Great house!

Reviewer Comments: Our group of family and friends love this house, it is so convenient to the slopes and is a nice size and layout for our group with a mix of adults and young kids. We have come for two years in a row and plan to continue coming. The house will only lose a star because the appliances need to be replaced. The fridge froze all of our fruits amd vegetables which was of course not ideal, the stove had a few burners not working properly which felt dangerous since it is a gas stove, and the oven was very temperamental and was constantly turning itself off. Other than the appliances, the house was clean and wonderful and we are excited to come back!

Marvelous Mountain Experience

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great home base for a group of “mature” men who have been hauling their cycles to play in the mountains for a couple of decades. The home was clean, well equipped and everything worked. Nice views are a definite plus. After several other rentals in this area, we believe we have found a keeper.

Having stayed in many many places over the years, it was easy to see that this house is extra well taken care of by its owners.

It is so close to the mid-mountain ski lift, extremely short and convenient walk to the slopes. The view is beautiful.We loved it and have already reserved it to come back next year.

Everything in the house was well labeled so we could easily find what was needed. Timber View feels secluded from the neighboring homes but is still a short drive from all the best Canaan Valley, Davis, & Thomas has to offer.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A lovely location for exploring the surrounding valley. The house is large with comfortable beds and has a lovely view. It is private and we saw lots of deer walk by. Loved that everyone had their own bathroom. We had several hiccups/ problems with appliances in the house (one oven doesn't work, dryer didn't work and we had a sewer smell throughout the house the last 2 days which took away from our enjoyment). Best of Canaan was responsive to our call. Overall nice stay but house needs some upkeep which was disappointing.

Nice cabin with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for a bigger group - loads of space. Check-in was simple and the cabin was clean on arrival. Kitchen is nice and well-equipped. Beautiful view off the back deck. Nice location on Timberline Mtn, short drive to Davis. Two suggestions for improvement for future guests - the mini-split A/C system upstairs is confusing; please provide some written instructions up there for operation. And a few light bulbs out here and there - upstairs bath, master suite closet. Overall, fantastic place. Looking forward to returning in the future.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A great ski cabin within a short walk to the mid-mountain lift at Timberline. The views of Canaan Valley are incredible from the deck and patio. Minor touches/improvements and attention to details (remote controls w/ dead batteries, ceiling fan broken, updated and thorough instructions, etc.) could really turn this place into something special. AWD-4WD definitely needed in winter or bad weather but you are rewarded with the view.

It fits our crew well. The views are amazing.The only thing negative about the place is that it definitely needs a deep cleaning. It would be nice if they updated the livingroom furniture and the upstairs mattresses.But overall it's an amazing house. Stocked very well in the kitchen.

A Super View

5 bedrooms and and extra bathrooms were a plus. Having a large den and kitchen combo was super for a large family. Our oldest son and wife and kids stayed downstairs in the bedroom next to the bunk room. They shared a bathroom. A third bedroom was across the den area on the other side that had a king size bed and large bathroom. The grandkids enjoyed the den space for watching tv, reading and playing games.The upstairs housed two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a small den area containing a table and lounging couch and chair. Our youngest son and his wife used one of the bedrooms for their infant son which worked well. There was plenty of wood for the fire pit and we called the office each day for garbage pickup. Our family enjoyed the hot tub at night. The office personnel were very nice and helpful. They are working with the property owners to have the washer unit repaired. We were overall pleased with our stay and enjoyed many beautiful sunsets off the large balcony.

Veterans Day weekend

It was good except the dishwasher backed up and we had to unclog the line…now understand why the wooden kitchen floor is warped…would guess this has happened before. Also, the king bedroom on lowest floor has a shower that doesn’t get hot water and the soak tub in the main floor king bath isn’t connected to plumbing. Other than that, it was great

When we opened the trash bin, a terrible smell came out. There were cobwebs, dust, and even mouse droppings. It was the dirtiest house we’ve ever stayed in. Additionally, the host seemed unfamiliar with state regulations regarding service animals.

Fantastic Home/Vacation

The house itself was very well equipped with most everything you could think of. I loved the three floors because you never got under each other's feet and everyone had their own space! The air conditioning was amazing and almost too cold at times, but I wasn't complaining As we came from Tennessee and Arkansas. We had plenty of room for family gatherings The fire pit was fabulous. The only negative thing I could say is you could hear everybody upstairs talking if you were on the main floor (this floors). We will definitely attempt to have this house again next year because it was wonderful.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year renting this house for the same weekend. The rental agency was responsive to problems we encountered. The location is fabulous. The many ensuite bathrooms is a great design. I would stay here again if the hot tub was larger and in a different location. It's ideal for 2 adults or small kids and is tucked into an enclosure. For skiers who wish to visit and tell stories after a long day, it's too remote from the living spaces (hint- can't supervise chidren) and too small for 4 or more adults to enjoy cocktails.

House needed cleaned, mouse poison on floor upstairs. No pot holders or oven mitts. No working can openers very limited bake ware. No cake pans. Every pot and pan needed washed before use. AC froze up first day, fortunately it remained cool enough to not need it. Cable only worked on one tv. Lights throughout the home were either VERY dim, or just didn't work at all. Road was in very rough condition.

The window sills were full of them and they were on the floors. We could not take our shoes off I had to sweep them up as best as I could We did not have hot water!! The maintenance man did come really fast but showed us how to keep fixing the problem by leaving a private closet open for us. This is an ongoing problem This house has the potential to be really nice but it has a lot of worn out furniture. Our trip was a great one but this was a first for us to experience a problematic house with Best of Canaan

Decent property in Davis but not as advertised

The property needed a lot of repair and replacement, unfortunately. The photos shown online were VERY deceiving. The cabin was dirty (fingerprints all over the windows, countertop sticky and kitchen floor needed mopping). There were at least a few hundred dead flies on the windowsills upstairs. The furniture throughout the house with the exception of one bedroom was extremely old worn out and in need of replacement. The comforter in the one bedroom that was decent had a huge hole in it. The gas fireplace would not light. The kitchen did not have adequate pots, pans and what it had was very old and put away dirty. EVERY plate was chipped. Additionally, the online photo showed an espresso machine which also was not there. Not at all worth the money paid ESPECIALLY the cleaning fee. Will not return.

Nice view BUT dirty and cheaply furnished/KEEP SEARCHING

Gross, from the lack of cleanliness and neglect for everyday comforts (poor quality bed pillows, cheap and dirty bedspreads, inadequate flat wear for all of us--12--to share a meal) to drawers full of mouse droppings and window sills covered with hundreds of dead bugs, your money is better spent elsewhere. Walls have holes, washing machine and TVs didn't work, this property just showed subpar efforts to even the minimum of cleaning, comfort, or maintenance throughout. I was disappointed by the conditions and chafed to put my family in the position to stay in such a poorly appointed property (toilet paper holders falling out of the wall, free standing tub without plumbing, 3 bean bag chairs devoid of 'beans', just empty sacs). Note that the property photos do NOT include any of the bathrooms...The whole place just seemed ratty and neglected and that the furnishings were leftover odds and ends (one of the bunk bed 'blankets' was an old sleeping bag with a broken zipper and stuffing coming out of a large hole). Although the rental agency was very helpful and responsive (it was 31degrees and this property didn't have blankets--staff provided them from their own personal homes), the house itself showed no pride in ownership. I can not recommend this property.
