## The Neighborhood
Florida's most famous beach town is steeped in auto-racing history and lore, but a vacation in Daytona Beach offers far more than world-class beaches and the need for speed. Slow down for cultural attractions, lively riverside neighborhoods, pedestrian-friendly promenades, and a festival calendar that runs year-round.
Daytona Beach is known for a handful of unique attractions and claims to fame:
- **Motorsports history** — Known as the "Birthplace of NASCAR," Daytona Beach has deep ties to auto racing. Early races were held on its hard-packed sand, and today the iconic Daytona International Speedway hosts the annual Daytona 500, the premier event in stock car racing.
- **The "World's Most Famous Beach"** — Daytona Beach earned this nickname for its 23 miles of wide, hard-packed sandy shore, where visitors can still drive in designated areas.
- **Jackie Robinson's legacy** — Daytona Beach was the site of Jackie Robinson's first integrated professional baseball game in 1946, an important moment in both sports and civil rights history.
- **Bike Week and Biketoberfest** — The city hosts Daytona Bike Week, one of the world's largest motorcycle rallies, drawing hundreds of thousands of riders each year, along with the popular fall event, Biketoberfest.
- **Outdoor activities** — Surfing, parasailing, paddleboarding, and fishing are all close at hand, along with scenic views along the Halifax River.
- **Family-friendly attractions** — The Daytona Beach Pier and Boardwalk offers arcades, restaurants, and rides, and nearby Daytona Lagoon Waterpark adds even more fun.
- **Arts and culture** — Cultural landmarks include the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) and the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, home to the world's largest collection of Florida art.
Daytona Beach uniquely blends history, adventure, and relaxation, making it a favorite for travelers of every age. You're steps from the sand and minutes from your next Daytona Beach adventure.
