this was an interesting find for me to do a review my husband booked the room for a one night stay back in February he told me it was a nice room unfortunately he booked for 2 adults and i wasnt with him on this stay so i think knocking shop is a better description

Great location for sightseeing and centre of Derby, clean and comfortable but full of families with screaming children running around above us late at night, and early in the morning .

Check-in wasn't a smooth process as the hotel did not have any record of my booking on their system since it had come from Expedia. Took a while to get resolved. Room was fine but I was given ground floor rather than first floor as I'd requested when asked. Made the best of it as it was just one night but would have preferred an easier check-in.

I was staying in a room on the 3rd floor which was not at all a problem to me although all the floor boards and stairs were very noisy when walked on, especially at the still of night. The carpet was so threadbare in the room you could see the flooring underneath. There was mould and dirt thou out the whole of the bathroom and shower and the room with contents was very dated apart from the up to date “smart” to. The water way hot enough to have a shower but no water pressure so it just trickled out. I ate at the hotel over my 3 night stay and the quality of food was very good and an enjoyable meal. All the staff I encountered were courteous, kind, polite and friendly being a credit to the hotel. I think the hotel needs tlc and decorating Paul

Arriving at the Stuart Hotel was easy and parking. Paid for parking in the NCP car park at reception. Confirmation of booking should of stated that the car park is a NCP which would of prevented any confusion. Room was very small and believe it was a single room so having two adults in the room was a bit of a squeeze and felt very claustrophobic and almost had a panic attack as windows were restricted with how far you could open them. Other small window was stuck I guess from when it was last painted as with the bathroom door which kept sticking and did not close properly unless you put pressure on the door. The toilet made a loud noise every time you flushed it and the shower was very small. Mattress was very soft and could feel the springs in the bed making it a very uncomfortable night. Breakfast was average and the dining room felt dirty with kids running around and food left on the side. Bar was closed before 11pm so could not use so was a little disappointed as the confirmation said the bar would be open until 11pm. Would not return to this hotel said that, the hotel staff was polite on arrival and check in was easy. Used this hotel as it was within walking distant to the pub and restaurant where we were meeting friends for drinks and food. Hotel has a lot of potential but requires a big refurbishment.

The accommodation seems to cater more for a younger cliental rather than the business side of the spectrum. The accommodation had a musty smell to it and the rooms weren't cleaned properly with stains on some of the furniture. The hotel didn't meet the best western brand

A Very Pleasant Stay
A very pleasant stay. Although I was there for one night I found hotel to be very good. Friendly staff. The room was clean and tidy. There was tea and coffee available in my room. The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean.

Travelling as a single male business traveller the hotel in itself is fine no issues with cleanliness of rooms or the food in the restaurant. My only concern would be the hotel seems to have a contract providing accommodation for adults with serious mental issues, whilst having dinner and walking around the hotel i witnessed staff having to control a resident and tell him to stop his profanity and if i was a single female traveller would find this quite alarming.

We had an extremely comfortable stay with two single beds – they were amazing! Though it was just for one night, the location was great, close to town. The bedding was nice and clean. However, the bathroom was disappointingly dirty, with visible mold and limescale. A thorough cleaning, including the shower mat, is needed. Consider sharing this feedback for improved cleanliness standards. 🏨

Sleepless in Derby
The hotel is easy to get to from the station and the staff are friendly. However the mattress and bed were the least comfortable in the 8 months I have been travelling. I could feel all of the springs in the mattress and the bed creaked etc. every time I moved. The pillows were also very thin and offered no support or comfort; needless to say, a good nights sleep was hard to achieve.

Only stayed for the one night but it was very noisy for a weekday - not sure if it was coming from the corridor or a room, and could also hear the room above quite a lot. The room was a little dusty but otherwise satisfactory for the evening.

Never staying again!
On arrival, there is an NCP car park which is £4.95/24 hours discounted for hotel guests to £2.45. Not that the sign in the photo tells you that. The car park is very tight with not many spaces. Reception looked nice with bar one side and restaurant the other. Both were OK. Couldn’t pre-auth on check-in as receptionist didn’t know how. Went up to room on 1st floor which splits either side at the top of the stairs. You need your room key to access the corridor on a little landing, with the door opening outwards! This makes getting in quite difficult with two bags, an overnight bag and laptop bag in my case but would be even harder with a large suitcase or two larger bags. Or for those less mobile would be very difficult. So, then got in to the room. Looked OK to start but: Chair was in front of wardrobe, when moved the legs wobbled a lot. Definitely not able to be sat on. Bathroom had black mould all around the bath. Shower was dripping. Dinner first night was over cooked. Bed was ridiculously firm. Ended up sleeping on top of the duvet just to add some softness. Went to work the next day. Got back to the room in the evening to find the door open! Dirty glass and coffee cup still there, toilet had not been cleaned (there was no brush to do yourself), towels had not been changed, bed not been made. All they did was empty the bin. Dinner second night was slow, advised 25-30 mins, but wrong meal turned up. Correct food turned up 10 mins later (microwaved)! Very Poor!

Two good nights' sleep
Comfortable bed. All amenities in working order. Good buffet breakfast. However, broken toilet roll dispenser in bathroom which was frustrating. I wish checkout was a little later too. Close to Derby train station and on bus routes.

Good location clean room! However the cupboard was half full of broken fans and spare lights. Telephone line was not working and bath broken on the side panels. Bath seal needs changing to combat mould. Apart from that the room was clean and presentable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Worst hotel have stayed in
Checked in and went to room card did not work first time. Got in room which was for a dusabled person, and used toilet but no soap in dispenser, reported it and was told would get someone on it. Returned later and checked room, carpets badley stained, floor uneven, bins not emptied from previous occupants. Still no soap available. Shaver socket cracked. Dated 70's furniture and low height bed. Pillows so thin headboard was thicker. Shower was walk in affair with seat but floor bent under foot and flooded bathroom, at some point in past soaked bedroom carpet. Dining room too small for occupancy and staff unfriendly. Seats need replacing and all needs cleaning. Never a 3 star use at your peril
