About this space
Located in the heart of Destin, less than 2 miles from the HarbourWalk Village and approx. 2 mile from the bayou. The kitchen has new cabinets and stainless steel appliances; includes a stove with a drop-down hood and granite countertops with beautiful mosaic tile backsplash. The kitchen includes a breakfast bar that overlooks the living area. An fully screened in patio with a view of the private pool. The home comes with a full size washer & dryer. Enjoy the tranquil setting of this HOME!
The space
Enjoy a stylish experience at this centrally-located beach home only 2 miles from the beach and 2 miles from the Destin Commons! The pool is well maintained and clear blue!(However if you are visiting during the FALL time there is a big tree that hangs over the pool so expect moderate leaves) The couch folds out into a futon and the other couch folds out Into a bed.

Close to boat dock…Otherwise not a great experience. Host was responsive up until stay and then went silent because he knew the listing was inaccurate. Master toilet wouldn’t flush, master tv doesn’t work, laundry room lights were out. Chair in the kitchen was broken and glued back together and couch pictured is no longer there. It is two small cheap couches. There were wires hanging out of the walls and some outlets sparked when plugging things in. Appears clean, but kids were on floor playing and got up with black legs…The outdoor furniture is all broken expect one lounger and two chairs. The pool leaked water so quick we had to fill it daily. The host won’t respond to us or VRBO, which tells me he is aware of the situation. We read the reviews before but wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt…. We shouldn’t have.

Please note the photos are outdated. You can bring a pet but there are no pet bowls or anything for them, very very basic living all in all but if you don’t plan on staying there 24/7 it’s just fine to shower/sleep/cook at. Pool lights did not work and various lights/switches throughout house did not work. Please be careful with dining room chairs, one was broken prior to going on our trip.

Good location

The house is pretty central to everything you need, it's just on a busy street which I didn't like. A lot of things were broken, light bulbs needed to be changed etc. but it was clean. Someone came over at 6:30am to mow the lawn and it was very loud and woke us all up. I don't want to be up that early on vacation.

The host was very attentive. We wanted to enjoy the pool and immediately he sent someone to clean it for us and it was lovely! Floors were dusty, our toddler couldn’t crawl as she is used to. One of the frames for the bed seemed bigger than the mattress, so it unexpectedly moved while sleeping. Nice kitchen, we enjoyed it! Beautiful inside layout and bathrooms were really nice. Rooms are really spacious

We stayed here for five nights. The location was awesome and we were very close to everything in Destin. Henderson State Park and Beasley Park both had beautiful public beaches and were within 4-5 minutes drive time of the house. The home was in a nice, quiet, neighborhood. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The pool was great too!

This house was not clean, smelled of mold. The furniture was stained and broken. All dressers in bedrooms were broken. All closet doors were broken, one closet door missing in master bedroom. This house was not suitable for anyone to stay in. False advertising, looked nothing like the Vrbo pictures!! Would not recommend to anyone!!!!

Take down the old picture because it doesn't look like that

Pool wasn't ready and that was the main thing I wanted to do.The trash was bad and the yard was nothing like the picture.I think my husband should have gotten some money back.the house keeping was very bad..

Where to begin....

We arrived at the house at 4. Informed it won't be ready until 5pm. When we get into the house, about 2 feet of the blinds in the front windows are missing and you can see straight in the house. The only rooms that didn't have broken/ missing blinds was the master bedroom and one of the other bedrooms. Next, the yard had not been mowed in at least over 1 month. This ad states "3 bedroom beach house with pool!" This is the ONLY reason I booked this property.... the pool. When we went out back to see the pool it was green with algae. I immediately reached out to the host to inform him. He said it was maintained regularly but then he looked at his pool report and reached out to his pool company. This message was relayed on Sunday when we arrived. I was told the pool company would be there on Monday and come every day until fixed. He also said "they will probably not be able to get the pool in swimming condition until at least 3 days from now based on the report I'm looking at. Can you send me a picture as well and I will obviously issue a partial refund depending on how long it takes to get it right. I'm very sorry for this". The pool company showed up on Tuesday. Came every day. The pool finally cleared up Friday morning, check out day.I have yet to receive any kind of a refund from this host. I strongly feel as if I have been scammed by this host and don't know how anyone would expect me to feel differently. I DO NOT recommend this property at all.

Honest observations

My initial impression was bad. As we drove up, we saw trash in the front yard and immediately noticed it needed to be mowed. There were weeds growing through the sidewalk. The inside of the property was clean, but as I walked through to the backyard, it was also overgrown. I don’t just mean the yard needed a trim, the grass was knee high. I notified the owner of this, and he offered to have the lawn service come out, but I declined. The pool was as clean as could be expected due to being underneath a large oak tree. We appreciated the shade it provided more than the inconvenience of a few leaves and acorns. The concrete around the pool is cracked, and the stepping stones leading from the back door to the pool were almost nonexistent due to weeds. Before we realized it, everyone in my family had stepped on burrs from a patch I noticed growing right next to the pool. The inside of the house was clean. The appliances were all in working order. There were adequate supplies. The hot water knob in the shower in the main bathroom was broken. Not it didn’t work, it was rusted and stripped out and had been broken and simply placed back on the handle. So while 2 bathrooms is advertised, it was more like 1.5 that was actually usable. I read another review stating the beds were full sized and the owner commented they were queens as advertised. They are fulls. I read the labels on the mattresses sizing them as full. The comfort level reminded me of my cot from basic training.

Not as advertised

Where to begin? I would say rent at your own risk. The property is not taken care of well. The yard is messy, the porch awning has a chunk of wood that has fallen out and is just laying on the porch when you walk in. At first glance the house seems ok but as we came in it is not taken care of well. There are outlets that are burned in 2 areas, which does not make you feel safe. The counters were dirty. I had wipes with me and they came up brown. The shower in the main bedroom the handle was about to fall off when you tried turnin it on. The washer was full of black hair. It was bad! Disgusting really. In all 3 bedrooms the closet doors were all broken and the handles on them as well. In the living room was a stained couch and a tv that barely worked. We figured out it was the batteries were dead in the remotes. We had to switch batteries back and forth to remotes to get this to work. For the backyard and pool area, well it was dirty. The picnic table is rotted and the umbrella was shoved in the hole in the middle and just left there hanging. The chairs by the pool were not looking good and we did not want to sit on them. The pool had all sorts of debris and dirt, and the filter was clogged. Definitely not ready for guests when they arrive. There was a hose hanging out of the pool and broken pool equipment on the chairs. In the house by the front door there was a closet and it was full of bagged up laundry, sheets, and towels. We only stayed one night.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED

The pictures of this property are very deceiving. It appears it was bought and someone did the bare minimum to rent out. You walk up the landscape is a mess, front porch and hall lights don’t work, there’s an outlet that has caught on fire. No smoke detectors were functioning. We bought batteries and hooked up the ones we found in a closet. The lights above the bar don’t work. The mattress.. oh my gosh! AWFUL! First the listing states a king, queen, and full. There is no queen bed in this house! The mattresses are low quality and worn out. By the pictures you can expect there is no decorations or furniture.. we moved the bar stools to the rooms for tables. The couch and futon look like they are bought from a yard sale. Let’s move to the porch and backyard. Both doors are broken on the screened in back porch. The fence was patched with boards. The pool was dirty when we got there. I contacted the “contact” and he did reply promptly but I shouldn’t have had to contact him to clean a pool that was supposed to be cleaned the day before.. which there is no way. Ohh and the light was out in the pool. The patio furniture was broken and dry rotted. We bought cheap landscape lights to have a little lighting because it was so dark out back at night. Ohh and RATS CRAWLING ON THE FENCE! RATS! The picture in the listing shows this nice lawn and that just isn’t the case. We couldn’t let our dogs loose because every time we did they got sticker burrs stuck in their paws. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Vacation

It’s a very nice location. Needs a little TLC. It’s not a 4 min walk to the beach. I would stay again. VRBO says check in is at 3 pm but it’s not until after 4pm. He let us in at 330 which I am very thankful. House keeper left empty beer bottles and boxes on the ground near the trash cans. We picked them up so it did not look like we left them. Needs a better housekeeper.

A bit disappointed

I was a bit disappointed in this particular stay. First off I would suggest to the owner to have a steady yard person handy as the yard looked pretty bad both, front and back. The rooms are not furnished well, Looks like make shift beds and dressers. The pool was dirty with leaves mud and dirt and we were not able to use it until our last day as the pool guy came out and cleaned it. Although the owner made it right, our water was shut off by the water company due to an unpaid bill so we had to endure without water for the day. Glad that he was able to make it right. I would suggest an upgrade in the furniture as the living room furniture looks a bit stained. The kitchen looks nice.

Terrible property

Property was in poor condition. Nail holes in the walls throughout the house. Light sockets and fixtures hanging out of the walls. Mouse traps in the closets indicating there is a rodent problem. Missing smoke detectors in several rooms. Sheet metal on the covered back patio is rusted and in bad shape the floor is also coming up. Back yard wasn’t in great shape either. Tarp and debris left scattered. Play wood leaned against fence in several spots to cover holes in it vs just replacing fence boards. Stayed 1 night due to my check in time and then checked out. Will never book this property again and I would not recommend it

Good

Most everthing was great, but the listing said one of the bedrooms had a queen bed. But 2 rooms had full size bed and one was a king. Pool needed a good cleaning, sides and bottom were really dirty. Over all it is still a great place to stay.
