I will never stay at the Marriott Detroit Southfield again, and I strongly recommend others think twice before booking. My experience was beyond unacceptable from start to finish.
First, the hallways were complete chaos. Kids were screaming, running up and down the halls, and even yelling slur words with zero intervention from staff. It felt more like a poorly supervised dorm than a Marriott property.
Second—and most concerning—one of the housekeepers left our room door wide open for HOURS while we were gone. Thousands of dollars in clothing and merchandise were sitting in plain sight, completely accessible to anyone walking by. The level of negligence is unreal.
Then on top of that, we needed maintenance that took nearly four hours to address. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, making it impossible to get good rest after everything else that already went wrong.
I reported everything to both the manager and the GM, and the “compensation” I received was a point balance equal to about twenty dollars. Twenty dollars after all of that. An absolute joke.
This location is a disgrace to the Marriott name. I will not return, and I can’t recommend it to anyone.
