Disappointed with this hotel. Despite the blurb on Hotels.com which was the reason I booked this hotel, there was no bar, no restaurant and no one around to help with questions. Our room, room 4, smelled strange on entering it as though it had been locked up for a while. Although the room looked clean it didn't feel clean to me. The blinds at the window were the cheap type and the pulley snapped off when trying to adjust the blind for more light. We fixed it though but it was annoying to have to spend time doing this. The sheets on the bed, while they looked clean, didn't feel fresh against our skin on sleeping. What I found strange about the hotel was that the restaurant was all closed up, the bar too, a locked door through which you could see a bar with stacked chairs etc. It felt eerie. If I had been a woman on my own I would have felt strange and would probably have left. The check in time was 4pm (not usual) and the check out time was 10am (too early!!). There was no place at the hotel to have breakfast, except in the town so we left and went to the Bridge of Allen for breakfast. The communal areas of this hotel were tired, grotty and not clean. The bed was ok but not overly wonderful. I stay in hotels all the time due to my work and this hotel, sadly, felt very sub-par to me. Dunblane is a lovely little town, quiet, quaint and sweet and very pretty. This hotel need a complete overhaul & a hotel reception with staff would add to the experience. It felt very lonely there.
