Welcome to Casa Leone! Have a wonderful holiday here in Abruzzo: relax and enjoy the sights and tastes of this special region of Italy. The views of mountains, vineyards, farmland and the sea are breathtaking as you travel along the winding roads near Casa Leone. We live here full-time and our house is next door to Casa Leone. We share a driveway and entry gate but you will have your own unattached house and grounds. While we will give you complete privacy, we are available onsite if you need anything. We will do everything we can to make your time at Casa Leone special. Casa Leone is located on an olive tree-covered hilltop overlooking the town of Elice with views of the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains. The views from Casa Leone are really extensive and sunrise and sunsets are special. The balcony in front of the house is south facing with a small table and chairs and is a great place to enjoy the morning sun. The balcony from the west facing bedroom is picture perfect for the sunsets. And on clear nights, the constellations are very bright. There is a large patio in front of Casa Leone with a dining table and chairs, sun loungers, rockers, and a gas fired barbecue. Lights spaced around the house perimeter provide a warm glow for enjoying the evening after the sun goes down. The property contains olive trees and various types of fruit trees (including orange, plum, pomegranate, fig, walnut, almond) for you to enjoy, depending on the season. Casa Leone is an 1100 square foot traditional Italian home with 10 foot high ceilings. There are two good sized bedrooms, a large living room, a cosy sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. One bedroom contains a queen bed and a full couch, the other bedroom contains a king bed and reading chair. There are end tables, lamps, a large dresser and wardrobes. The sitting room has two pull-out futons. The kitchen has a retro feel with original counters and a table that dates back to the 1970's. There is a gas range with an electric oven, microwave, espresso machine, tea kettle, toaster, full set of cookware, utensils, and dishes/glasses. We will provide you with cooking essentials, including fresh olive oil from our own olives. There is no dishwasher. The bathroom is also a bit retro with a tub/shower. There are split air-conditioning/heating units in both bedrooms, the living room and the kitchen. The bathroom has a new washer/dryer. The nearest village is Elice, located about 1 km from Casa Leone. There you will find a post office, bakery and bar. There are several coffee shops and local food stores as well as great local restaurants within 5-15 minutes from Casa Leone. A larger supermarket and mall are about 25 minutes away. The countryside surrounding Elice is stunning and there are wineries and hill towns to explore, including Penne, Atri and Citta Sant’Angelo. Most small towns host a number of festivals throughout the year. There are direct bus and train services from Pescara to Rome (you can be in Rome in 2.5 hours) and Ryannair operates regular flights from Stansted, Brussels, Frankfurt and Milan to Pescara airport. You will need a car to enjoy Casa Leone and there are car hires at the Pescara airport and Pescara train station.
