The guest rented a camping cabin, for people who want to be out in nature, but don't want to bother with a tent. Apparently, they did not read the description of the cabin. We have not had other guests misunderstand what we have to offer, but we will revise the listing to make it even more clear.

This guest did not stay with us. She arrived, was immediately combative, and refused to sign the registration and waiver form, claiming that it was not mentioned on our website. The waiver is actually mentioned in 20 different places on our website.

This person did not stay with us. They made a short-notice reservation on line, did not read the description, and assumed it was a motel room rather than a camping cabin.

We're happy that Kimberly appreciated what Abrams Creek has to offer. It is more like a nature preserve than a commercial campground. On our campground, there are no generators, loud electronics, or other things that would distract from appreciating the sights and sounds of this pristine natural environment. Campsites and cabins are well spaced out, so that there is never a feeling of crowding.

We were delighted to have Robert stay with us. We do have a door lock for that room--we rarely have had a guest want one. Had Robert asked, we could have provided him with a keylock. If he stays with us again, we'll be sure to provide that for him!

I's sorry the cabin didn't work out for this family. This is a campground, so woodland creatures are all around. We actively control for mice in the cabins. This cabin was rented almost continuously this summer, and this was the first report we had of mice. Normally, we would have taken care of the problem while the guests were there, but since they had an infant, they didn't want to take any chances. We were happy to support them in that choice, and they were given a refund.

I'm sorry the guest did not have all their needs met. We have resident staff who are more than willing to help with any concern.

I'm sorry if we missed something about the linens. We of course would have been happy to change them had we known there was a problem. We would not knowingly use linens with stains on them.

I'm sorry to hear that this guest misunderstood the kind of accommodations we offer. The lodge is set up like a bed-and-breakfast or guest house--a common enough arrangement in the US, and even more so in Europe. The hosts live here, and private rooms within the lodge are available to guests. People rent rooms here because of the spectacular grounds--a hemlock forest set in a mountain valley with a wild whitewater stream running alongside it, in an area with many extraordinary outdoor recreational opportunities. And unlike a hotel room, guests have shared access to a full kitchen--all at very affordable rates.
