Shady practices going on here at Hampton in Wells, NV. Made original reservation on Expedia nine months in advance, confirmed reservation on phone with staff two and a half weeks prior. Day of reservation en route call to inform of late arrival and was told they're not keeping reservations due to computer problems, its first come, first serve. I begged to have a room held for my family of 6 (4 kids), after much pleading he did hold it. But upon arrival I heard and saw other reservation holders being turned away. Also, the employee DEMANDED to PHOTOCOPY FRONT AND BACK OF MY CREDIT CARD and drivers licence due to computer problems. Claimed he would later destroy. Next morning manager arrived, gives various stories. He first blamed new software system (under new ownership since Nov 24.) Then he said this happens every month in a small town like Wells, its all internet problems. Lastly he said an internet company oversells their rooms. He promised he would later email me a receipt for the charge once they charged my card...oh they charged my card but I never got a receipt. When there I had asked for the manager's or any hotel business card, he claimed they had none due to being newly purchased nine months previously. Red flags everywhere! Fearing fraud over their photocopy of my credit card and DL, my husband canceled that credit card so no future fraud happens. We are concerned for other guests who had this done to them and warn future ootential guests.
