Location:

Set high above Florence’s historic centre, the hilltop town of Fiesole offers a peaceful contrast to the city’s buzz yet remains just a short drive or bus ride from the Duomo. Long favoured by artists, writers, and those seeking a slower pace, Fiesole is known for its panoramic views, ancient Roman ruins, and tree-lined piazzas. Wander through quiet lanes framed by olive groves and cypress trees, or explore the town’s archaeological site and 14th-century monastery to taste its layered history.

Fiesole’s elevated position means cooler evenings and clearer skies, making it a refreshing retreat during Florence’s hotter months. Local restaurants serve Tuscan classics with a view, while artisan shops and markets lend an authentic, village-like feel. Whether you’re returning from a day of sightseeing or planning a slower, more scenic stay, this hillside setting offers the best of both worlds: tranquillity above, with the cultural heartbeat of Florence at your feet.
