BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Prior to your arrival we need some info from you. It would be great if you could provide them at least one week before you check into the apartment.
Around what time are you going to arrive in Firenze? Are you coming by train or by plane?
We need a phone number we can call, send an SMS or WhatsApp for any last minute communication with you.
For bureaucracy reasons we need to notify the local administrations of incoming guests. We need some data from you and it would be great if you could send it to us via mail before you get here.
For 1 person we need:
Name
Surname
Date of born
Place he/she was born
Gender
Citizenship
ID Number
ID type
State the ID was done.
For all the other guests we need:
Name
Surname
Place he/she was born
Date of born
Gender
Citizenship
CHECK-IN
Once you get to the apartment press the buzzer n°5 labeled Ruini and we will open the front door for you. It will be either me or my parents to welcome you at the house and show you around. It would be great if you could warn us in case you hit any kind of delay.
How to get to the apartment
By plane or train
Once you arrive in Florence (either by plane at Florence airport or by train at Florence central station) I’d personally recommend you to grab a taxi and ask the driver to lead you to "borgo dei Greci 7". This is the fastest and painless way for you to get at the apartment’s front door.
If you land in Pisa you will find trains or busses that will bring you at Florence central station in 1h and grab a taxi from there.
If you get to Florence central station and don’t want to use taxi you have a second ( and cheaper) option. There is a small electric bus that depart right next to the central station and stops just 2min walk from the house. The bus code is “C2” and the bus stop you should get out of the bus is called “Ghibellina”. You can see the complete trip details here:
https://goo.gl/maps/xC6THUkXRRK2
There is a C2 bus leaving central station every 10 min (at max) during the day.
By Car
If you are coming by car (although we don’t recommend it) you can use either public city parkings or private.
The Closest cheaper public parking is 28min walking distance from the house (across the city center). It’s not super handy but it’s just 10 euro per day (15 from the second day) https://goo.gl/maps/2d34Dt5kENp .
The Closest private parking is 5min walking distance from the house but they are way more expensive: from 30 to 80 euro per day depending on the car size. http://www.firparking.com/en/our-parkings/garage-del-bargello
You can’t park the car near the house and most important you can drive close by only during specific time windows because of the restricted traffic area the house is located in.
You can enter the restricted traffic area with your car
Working days: after 8pm till early morning
Saturday: from 4pm
Sunday: the whole day
There are cameras at the restricted area gates. If they bust you passing during the closure time you will be fined.
If you stay within the correct timeframes you can come close to the house to drop people and luggages but then you need to drive your car outside the restricted traffic area.
The Closest drop off point for luggage outside the restricted area traffic is here https://goo.gl/maps/U13V9sbrHx62
CHECK-OUT
We have self-checkout procedure for this house:
Take all your stuff outside
Leave the keys on the table inside the house
Get out of the house and pull the door behind you
Check-out time is around 10:30 in the morning. You are allowed to stay longer (the whole day basically) if no new guests are checking in the same day you are checking out(ask Mike).

Italian Free Wifi
The Italian Department for Innovation has launched (still early stage but working) a Global free wifi network that (in the plans) will will grant free access to internet. Florence is one of the Pilot city for this project so you can (on paper) enjoy free wifi across the city. In order to use it you need the official app.

Note: you need your phone number active in order to receive the account activation code via sms.
RULES
The penthouse is located in a central residential building. We expect our guests to behave accordingly and in respect of the “common sense” rules listed below.
Loud noises, loud music, running, dancing is strictly forbidden both inside the apartment, and on the stairway and the hallway at the entrance of the building, especially in the evening.
It's also forbidden to leave trash / bags / luggages sitting anywhere outside of the apartment.
Respect your neighbours and be kind with them. Any act we are reported of disrespect that may damage / compromise the relationship with them will be taken into account.
IMPORTANT: throwing a party and or letting more than 10 people in the apartment is absolutely forbidden.
If you break any of the above-mentioned rules (especially the last one) you may incur in the following penalties:
200€ fee.
A visit from the local police. If they find proper evidence of any fault (such as disturbing the peace or creating damages) they can file you a report for breaking Italian laws.
Depending on the gravity of the fault you may even be kicked out of the apartment.
WASHING MACHINE
Open the lid, open the hatch, put clothes inside, close the hatch, put soap in the right soap dispenser and softener (if needed) in the central dispenser. Close the lid, select a program (normally eco), select a temperature, desired centrifuge speed and then press start.
POWER & WATER OUTAGES
If a power outage happens:
Check the fusebox in the storeroom. If all of them are up (but one on the right) the issue is not here so go to next step. If not call mike.
Get out of the house and go down the stairs to the front door hallway. On te left of the door, you will see a white cabin. Open it, look on the top left for a white box with this name “ruini haldys”. If the switch is turned down then pull it up. If the switch is up the issue is not here and it may be a city supply problem. In any case call Mike
If water outage happens:
Check if there is a power outage in the house. If so try to fix it following the previous bullet points. If there is there if not it maybe a water supplier scheduled outage for network improvement. In any case call mike.
Note: there are smoke sensor in the house. If they detect smokes the safety protocl will cut off all vital utilities such as gas, electricity and water. It’s thus recommended:
To smoke in the inner court
If cooking always turn on the Exhaust hood over the stove in the kitchen if you are grilling or frying
GARBAGE HANDLING
In Florence we sort garbage for recycling. In the house you will find 4 containers:
One for Plastic, cans, glass
One for Paper
One for Organic waste
All the rest
You won’t see garbage containers around the house because they are “underground” containers: just a small hatch comes out of the ground. You have to open it, put you garbage in and close it. Garbage location is marked in the “basic spots map” linked in this manual (also in the picture at the beginning of this manual) or down here.
