“The service, accommodation was exceptional. The hotel was relaxed and totally customer focused. The staff are attentive and accommodating, knowledgeable about the area. All the staff presented themselves as professional but friendly always smiling and open to conversations and commentary. The spa is fantastic, relaxing and rejuvenating. I’d go back anytime and will recommend the hotel to my friends”

“It’s a majestic and beautiful property which has been tastefully decorated. We stayed in the family room (2 adults and a teenager) and it was huge and lovely. The only criticism would be about the bathroom…the shower pressure and no shelving in the shower or bath to put your products on (very minor though). We can’t speak highly enough of all the staff from the reception, to the restaurant/breakfast and bar. A special mention to Brendan who made one of the nicest Espresso Martinis I’ve ever...

“Great location for our birthday event in Cartmel. The chauffeur service was excellent and we utilised that every evening. Welcome from Francesca was warm and friendly but professional at all times. Good breakfast too. Room was warm despite inclement weather.”

“Excellent room, we had an executive suite and the view was marvellous as was the huge four poster bed. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we've had, proper cumberland sausages - what can I say!. Staff were also excellent especially Joanne the manager who went above and beyond to make our 4 night stay very enjoyable. We had 2 meals in the hotel pub and again the food was of a very high standard, one meal was a sunday roast which I found absolutely superb. Will definitely stay here...

“Lovely room at the Royal Oak, perfect for a quick stay. Bed was comfy and shower was good, what more could you ask for! Pub was not open Sunday evening, so we didn't get to eat here, but heard that the food is very good. No breakfast in morning, but lots of options in Cartmel so wasn't an issue. Would recommend.”

“Quaint old Inn. Badly let down by standards of cleanliness & maintenance. Dangerous broken toilet seat in bathroom. Also more disturbingly a used disposable razor from a previous guest in the same bathroom. The bedroom carpet was filthy, it even had plastic tags from clothes on the floor. Obviously had not been cleaned properly in weeks/months. Luckily another guest was a no show so we moved room. This new room was not any better for cleanliness but at least the toilet seat was intact. That was...
