Wonderful location, Wonderful hosts! PERFECTION!
We stayed for 10 days in April at the most beautiful place we've ever stayed, and we've been to many, many places in our 50 years together. The hosts, Jeremy and Jody are the most wonderful people, unbelievably kind and generous. The location of the home is stunning and the very artful home itself has everything one could possibly imagine. My spouse is a gourmet cook and was extremely impressed with an excellent kitchen set up, well equipped and so easy to work in….all while having a full view of the beautiful Lake! Everywhere upstairs is a stunning view of Lake Michigan. The patio just off the living room is a little piece of paradise; an incredible spot to soak in brilliant sunsets. The master bedroom had the most comfortable bed we've ever found (besides our own), and this really made a perfect package. The hosts have thought of everything to make this the best getaway, tons of interesting books and DVD's...this place simply has it all. Thank you Jody and Jeremy for making your beautiful home available. May you always have respectful, gracious guests who appreciate the care and artistry everywhere. We plan to return!

Glorious
There are panoramic views of Lake Michigan. Arcadia dunes to the south and Frankfurt break water to the north. The home is comfortable and well appointed. The architecture is interesting with stone work inside and out. This was our second time renting the home and we’ll be back.

We love our August Lake Michigan getaway more every year. Very clean, modern property, equipped with everything you need. Communication with owners (Not a Management Company!!!) is excellent and appreciated.

Wow, those stairs.
Everything was fine, location was as expected, except the stairs leading to the beach were a bit of a challenge, for the almost 60 crowd. We were basically not expecting that climb.

Shoreline access to Lake Michigan can be challenging and long flights of stairs are more often the rule than the expectation, unfortunately. The height of our bluff is probably "average" at about 80 ft above the waterline. I have attempted to show the length of the stairs in the property description photos (currently numbered 17, 33, and 35). I will add additional/updated photos in the future, based on this feedback. A public access point to the beach is available to our south, which offers fewer steps and more resting platforms.

Perfect lake Michigan stay
We had an amazing stay. The house is really lovely with a beautiful view over lake Michigan and amazing sunsets. The house had everything we could need with nice instructions on how to use appliances. Three kids shared the bunk room easily since there is a pull out trundle. We had adults in the main bedroom and on the pull out couch, which worked well for us. Steps to the lake are steep (but close by public access stairs are an easier alternative). The beach is awesome and we were lucky to have some beautiful beach days. The woods around the house make it feel very isolated and we spent mornings and evenings on the deck with the view. Kids had fun with a tree stump obstacle course in front of the house. I hope we can go back!

Lovely place
My husband and I had a lovely stay. House is just as the photos appear and the location was perfect for exploring Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and surrounding area. Check in and check out we easy. Overall, I recommend the place and will strongly consider rebooking it if I am back in the area.

It was our third year in a row for an August vacation at this lake front property. It was another great experience of beautiful views, near private beach, and a wonderful, well-equipped house. The owners are very responsive to questions and concerns. We feel lucky to live in Michigan and very lucky to have found this VRBO in 2020.

Spectacular views and sunsets
Three sisters and our three adult daughters had the most memorable time together there. It was a workout managing the stairs to the beach, but once there we loved walking the beach in search of precious rocks and enjoying time in the sun. The new kitchen was perfect for entertaining and day trips to Elberta and Frankfort made for a incredibly wonderful week.

Amazing views!
The owner was amazing to work with. He provided so much information about the house, area, etc. (not to mention his lovely neighbor, Kris). The views of the lake are beyond excellent. Although not surprised, based on the house location, the stairs to the beach are a little rough. A little concerning for my very small sized 4 and 5 year old, but with an adult hand it was fine. The “it only happens every 20 years” dead fish on lake MI was annoying, but after this year it will be clear and free for the next 20 years lol. The mattress’ and sheets are top notch (and I’m picky). The kitchen is fully stocked with all new dishes, cups, pots, etc. The house is comfy and unique and my hubs loved the book collection! It has a bit of a “cabin” smell but you get use to it. The log “hop-scotch” area was so much fun. The whole family used it for an hour at a time. We loved Frankfurt and its restaurants as it is so close with a great sunset beach.

Wonderful
The cottage is lovely. It was built for a 180 degree view of Lake Michigan. Sunsets can be seen from the comfort of the cottage or out on the deck. The kitchen has a good pots and pans. Even the knives are good. The beach is peaceful and a great place to look for Petoskey & Charlevoix stones. The beach is also easy underfoot for long walks either towards Arcadia Bluffs or towards the Frankfurt channel lighthouse. Our stay was peaceful and restful.

Excellent getaway in a beautiful home on Lake Michigan
This property is everything you could want in a good sized Lake Michigan rental. The house was well equipped and beautifully appointed. The views of the big lake were exceptional from the great room windows and deck atop the bluff, as well as at lake level below. This was our first stay on Lake MI during the winter - and with how much we loved it, we could only imagine how much better the experience would be in Summer. Jeremy was an exceptional host as well. He went to lengths to make sure we felt welcome and to ensure his guests are well informed with his pre-visit checks, communication, and a thorough and well thought out in-home guide. Could not recommend this rental more - we would give our experience 6 stars if we could! Thanks for a great stay, Jeremy!

Dune Heaven
Exceeds expectations. The view is beyond explanation and you will never grow tired or be disappointed even on cloudy days. Everything in the home is well thought out and quality. This is a five-star home, from incidentals to appointments, all are very top-notch. Bring your water shoes, as the beach has a few rocks to traverse and it is a substantial journey down the steps to the beach but all is well cared for, superbly built, and very safe. I've been coming to Frankfort for 48 years and have always dreamed of staying at a place like this. It far exceeded my expectations. Jeremy and Jody are great hosts, very available and pleasant to work with. You can see how much they truly love this home and the thought and preparation they put into this very unique and wonderful experience. In one word EXCEPTIONAL.

Bliss on The Beach
This was our second year vacationing at this unbelievable home just outside Frankfort and it was even better. "I felt so happy when I walked in" ... my spouse and adult children said the same thing. This is a very unique and stylish property. The owner has thought of everything to maximize the beautiful view of Lake Michigan and the enjoyment of a family vacation. The stairs to the beach may be a deal breaker for the very young or very old, but for us... we love the pristine untouched beauty of a nearly private beach to enjoy all day. The kitchen is ultra modern and has absolutely everything you might want. The owners are easy to reach and truly want you to enjoy your stay.

Lovely location on the Big Lake
This home offered everything we needed for a perfect week Up North! We appreciated the thoughtfully appointed kitchen, bedrooms and baths. The deck provided jaw-dropping views and was our favorite spot for meals, games, reading and conversation. We loved the surrounding woods, which were gorgeous and humbling, but our hands-down favorite part of this home was the private beach. Lake Michigan served up some wild waves last week and we tried to ride as many as possible on boogie boards and innertubes. 123 steps down and back up again helped us work off all the Moomers, Kilwins and Stormcloud we enjoyed in town — both Frankfort and Beulah were close enough to explore daily. We also were grateful for Jeremy's quick response when a summer storm knocked the a/c off kilter for a bit. Overall, it was an A+ experience and we hope to be back! Thank you!

Gorgeous Lake Michigan views
This property is a funky, remodeled house with lots of charm and unbeatable views of Lake Michigan. It was a very private and quiet retreat for our family. The private beach on Lake Michigan was definitely the highlight of the property. It is hard to find vacation rentals in Frankfort that have been remodeled with modern amenities and that was a big part of what drew us to the property. The owners are definitely creating their dream home. I will say, the downside for our family was that we felt a bit on edge making sure we followed the house rules regarding caring for the expansive marble countertops and keeping the fruit flies at bay. This may not be the best rental for traveling with kids because we had to constantly make sure they were following the detailed instructions to keep the kitchen in tip top order. The lovely town of Frankfort is a 2 or 3 min drive away, but isn’t really practical walking distance with kids.

PERFECTION!
Unique property! Breathtaking views! Extremely well appointed! This place had everything we could ever want and more. We spent most of our time on the back deck overlooking Lake Michigan- so relaxing and restorative. Just what we needed! If Frankfort is the location you are looking for and you can work with a master, a bunk room, a futon, a sleeper sofa and 1.5 baths, book this place!

An amazing view
The pictures do not come close to depicting the the amazing view of Lake Michigan – it is really breathtaking. The home was very clean. Extremely quiet wooded location on a private road. The pantry provided a good assortment of spices and other basics. There is a K-Cup style coffee maker provided with pods which is perfect for a quick cup of coffee. We opted to bring along our own coffee maker as we drink copious amounts of coffee in the morning. The home is definitely unique in its design which does make it special. Be prepared if venturing down to the water – it is a lot of steps. Overall, a great stay!

The Magic of Lake Michigan
This little secluded gem is off the beaten path and away from the stress and craziness that you find in larger towns. The home itself was beautiful both on the exterior and interior. Inside was Super clean, had a very spacious living area, amazing large window views of the lake, fully stocked kitchen, enough rooms/beds for 3 to sleep comfortably. The highlight however, is the lower level of the property, down the stairs to magical Lake Michigan. The stairs may not be for everyone (especially one part where the angle is quite steep) but if you're careful and take your time going up and down it becomes a non issue. Once down the stairs, the views of the lake/beach are amazing! Sunsets are drenched in color and even though the water was a bit chilly it was clear and refreshing to swim in. The deck/balcony was another awesome feature! The clear glass barrier makes the outdoor ambiance spectacular. They way the sun hits the deck through the trees with the lake in the background is always picture worthy. Our host was excellent! Professional, non intrusive, communicated well, and even surprised us with a small gift waiting for us in the refrigerator! Overall, this is without a doubt a 5 star property. Everything was perfect. 10 out of 10. Definitely coming back again!

Peace, Quiet and Gorgeous Views
We had such a wonderful week at this home! The house was very comfortable and clean and everything we needed was provided, including a very well organized and stocked kitchen. We really appreciated that we were given enough staples to get us through the week ... toilet paper, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, etc. Those are always the annoying things to have to buy when renting a house. The views and beach are beautiful. We loved watching the sunset from the deck and took walks along the beach. Even on windy days when the waves were high, there was still beach to enjoy, which is rare these days. The surrounding area provided so many wonderful hikes and areas to explore. We visited in the spring, so it was quiet and peaceful and we didn't encounter too many people during our hikes which for covid times, was great. We loved visiting Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore and spent several days hiking there (about a 45+ min drive from the house). The town of Frankfort had several great restaurants which we enjoyed take out from and I'm sure in the summer months, it's bustling. The owner was extremely responsive and always answered any questions right away. He also provided us with many great ideas of areas to hike and explore and we appreciated his knowledge of the area! Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely home! It will be a trip we always remember.

Pure Michigan
We rented for a ski weekend at Crystal Mountain with 2 adults 2 kids. The house was spotless and the views of Lake Michigan are incredible. The wooded setting is magical in the winter. The layout of the house worked great for our family of 4. The host has gone above and beyond to make sure you have everything you could need. All the little extra details were such a pleasant surprise. Jeremy was great to work with! This was the cleanest rental property we have stayed in. The location was wonderful, only a few minute drive into the town of Frankfort and 20 minutes to Crystal Mounain. We will definitely plan to stay again on our next trip to the area.

We really enjoyed our stay! The home is completely renovated and very clean and organized. It’s an easy drive to Crystal Mountain for skiing. Jeremy, the owner, was extremely easy to work with. Highly recommend this property!

Beautiful home on the bluff above Lake Michigan
This unique home on the bluff above Lake Michigan centers on a great room & fireplace with a panoramic lake view. The attached kitchen is very well equipped. Two downstairs bedrooms w/full bath were cozy, with views out on the forest. Steps down to the lake are newly repaired, and even with high water, there is some beach on calmer days. We found the house perfect for a quiet fall week, reading books, cooking nice meals, enjoying sunsets and the sound of the surf.

They've thought of everything
The accommodations were family friendly. Loved the home, especially the kitchen and the kids played on the stump path quite a bit. We also spent a lot of time out on the back deck looking over the water. The stairway to the water is quite steep but a few of us made a handful of trips down.

Beautiful home with a beautiful view!
We had an amazing stay at this gorgeous house on Lake Michigan. My wife and I spent a very relaxing week enjoying the amazing view. The house is very clean and feels as though it has been recently renovated with updated appliances and a very nice (and large) kitchen. There are tons of activities nearby, we had an amazing time kayaking on Crystal Lake, hiking the nearby dunes and forests, and biking on the Betsie Valley Trail. The hosts are very friendly and very responsive. I can not think of a single complaint, this house is amazing and one of the best VRBO houses we have ever stayed at!

Phenomenal property
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this property over Labor Day weekend. The home is beautiful, updated, with everything we needed and the view is unbeatable. The location is perfect, we went on hikes every day and greatly enjoyed the empire bluff trails and the Arcadia trails. Elberta beach is less than 10 mins away and quite serene. We would love to return to this home and would definitely recommend it.

Just beautiful
The location, view and amenities were great. The host was super responsove. Everything you could possibly need was already there. It was just what we were looking for. Sunset views every night. Close enough to town, grocery and restaurants (and public beaches), yet tucked away enough to seem very private. Due to erosion and protection from further erosion, there was no private beach any more but they built out some wonderful benches into the stairs to still enjoy the location. We spent quite a bit of time there. One could still swim there as well (although I wouldnt send children simply because the waves were quite strong and again no beach per se). Again, there are plenty of public beaches within 5 mins drive.

Cool Vibe
This was the coolest property we have rented in a long time. It's NOT a cookie cutter up north rental, but a place that will hang in your memory. The view and deck are indescribable and the pictures do not do it justice. The sunsets, the storms rolling in, the vast night sky including the Perseid meteor shower, can not be captured even in photos. The interior is modern and cool -- decorated with natural wood and stone. The kitchen has every conceivable appliance or houseware you might want to prepare meals and snacks. This was very important because, after all, it is 2020 and we ate at the house a great deal more than we usually do on vacation. As far as capacity, this house is probably best for one family ... two bedrooms and 1.5 baths ... but we had a great time with our immediate family that included adult children. At max we had 6 adults/1 toddler (for 3 days) and that is really the most you would want to house. Stairs to the beach are challenging as others have noted, but we really enjoyed the 2nd half of the week (all adults) when we could go down the stairs, wade a little ways and then set up on our own strip of Lake Michigan sandy beach. Private... we saw other people in the distance 3 times. The water was beautiful, clear, refreshing. (Again good for 2020 when we are supposed to be avoiding strangers.) Other days we went to public beaches in Frankfort and Elberta. Restaurants we enjoyed with outdoor seating were The Mayfair, Maple and Birch, and the marina hang out The Villa. The best part of this house for us was the huge living space. The great room of living/kitchen was large and even more spacious feeling due to the walls of windows to trees/lake. Looking back at our photos, there are so many of my grandson playing on the floor with his uncles; or just everyone flopped around relaxing or playing cards. I liked that the TV was off to the side in the bonus room ... it was nice to have the View and Family front and center. I cannot say enough about how well provisioned this house was ... linens, Q-tips, beach towels, extra bedding for every room, cozy throws. If I could change one thing it would be to have a bigger grill. VRBO renters, plan on one the size of the state park picnic area. Even that had its' charm, though, as there's a skinny window from the kitchen and see how the BBQ chef is doing! Thanks again to the Kirklins for creating a stunner! Your style and attention to details is appreciated.

Glorious!
My husband and two children loved our stay! There was so much care and attention put into every detail to ensure our vacation was comfortable and full of ease. This home is one of a kind...and what an amazing view of the lake! The stairs are steep, but that isn't unusual for Lake Michigan. To be honest, we felt lucky to have stairs at all considering the record high water levels and the destruction it caused. On calm days we were able to take a short walk along the sea wall & shoreline to the public access beach area, which was wonderful and private - especially since access to this area is closed from the road. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for everything!!

We stayed here with our 5 kids and loved it. Views off the deck were spectacular and nearby beaches were great to play at. We used every nook and cranny of this house and it had everything we needed. Kitchen space was well stocked and easy to use.

Beautifully remodeled home. Tasteful and family friendly. My kids talk about the bunk beds everyday. The beach isn’t especially accessible for young kids, but the public beach in Frankfort is perfect.

We enjoyed our stay in northern Michigan a lot. The house was very clean and well equipped. The view is spectacular. Based on the pictures we expected a (small) beach, but there was none.

Thanks for the positive review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. The water level in Lake Michigan is up 4" from July 2019. It's even up 1" since our June 2020 photos were taken, which seems to have erased what was left of our sandy shoreline. We hope and expect that water levels have peaked for this cycle (10-15 years cycles) and will begin to go down from here. Thanks again for booking with us.

Excellent Lakefront Home
Our family had a great time at this home, just the vacation we needed. The home is well designed and cared for, and offers everything needed for a Great Lakes vacation. The views are superb, and the Michigan summer nights are relaxing and a breath of fresh air - literally! Highly recommended.

Very nice place!!
This place was a perfect place to get away from it all. Fantastic view of Lake Michigan. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and then some. We will definitely plan to stay here again.

Fabulous Find
Everything about this place was perfect....the communication with the owners, the location, the house and all it’s amenities and the amazing view. This was our first time to Michigan and we couldn’t have picked a better place. This house is nestled through some trees and sits on the edge overlooking Lake Michigan. If you didn’t know any better you’d think it was the ocean. We will definitely be returning to this place. It captured our hearts.

Late Summer Getaway
My family and I stayed from September 16th-20th and were blessed with almost 80 degree weather all week. The house setup was very accommodating for our group. Between the kitchen, living area, and deck (the areas we tend to spend most of our time) we never felt as if we were in each others faces. With the bedroom setup I would recommend sticking to smaller groups. It's a tad unorthodox, but worked just fine for us. The deck and views are hard to beat. We had plenty of great photo opportunities while there. We primarily stayed at the house for the week and enjoyed the private beach daily. The stairs to the beach can be a little intimidating at first, but by day two all of us felt comfortable. It can be quite a workout going up and down multiple times per day so we finally wised up and packed accordingly for a day at the beach by day three or so to avoid multiple trips up and down. We ventured into Frankfort multiple times and it is a great little town with plenty to eat and do. It has that old downtown charm and was fun to walk around. Jeremy and Jody were very easy to worth and communicated very well throughout the whole process. Highly recommended and we will definitely keep this one on the radar for future trips to the area.

Felt like home
Goodness me, how much space do I have? Because there were so many things about this property that are worth mentioning! I always like to judge my stays by whether or not it feels like home when the trip comes to an end. Jeremy's place was AMAZING and exactly what we needed for our week away from the KY heat. I felt like I was leaving behind my own home by the time we needed to check out. Is the property quirky? You betcha! It took a little getting used to, but it wasn't long before my daughter was calling the bunkbed room "my room" and was playing with the toys that they had stored in there as if they were her own. All of the decorations these guys have chosen are things that I'd put into my own home (in fact, my husband caught me checking for tags on things on more than one occasion so that I could get them for our house!). The game cabinet was a HIT and I was more than appreciative for things to do with my 4 year old that didn't include the TV! We never even turned it on! The sunsets NEVER disappointed. The views from inside were fantastic, and the views from the porch were even better! Now, let's talk about the beach...it was so lovely. We rarely saw anyone else on the beach and we had the BEST time hunting for Petoskey stones! We even found 10 of them during our week stay! Be warned, though, the views come with a price as there are about 125 steps down (and back up!) to get to the water. But my 4 year old had no problem navigating them and I was 7 months pregnant going up and down them! All in all, you can be picky and see that there are a couple things that need work, but we booked this house before seeing any photos of the inside and I'm SO glad we did! We hope to make visiting Greenwood Shores an annual vacation!
