OCEANFRONT Frisco — Attempting to meet everyone’s wishes while planning your family’s Hatteras Island getaway can be a noble cause, but you’ll find that crown jewel you’re seeking in the 4,500 sq. ft. ISLAND PRINCESS. Located just steps from the sandy Atlantic beach, this seven-bedroom/five-full and one-half-bath home inspires you to rediscover perfect days in so many ways.

If perfection lies in extended moments of relaxation, the oceanside private pool, adjacent six-person hot tub, and outdoor shower soothingly oblige. Those seeking more active endeavors will find a game room with a pool table on the first level. Use the kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator and microwave to keep snacks and drinks ready. And for those in your group dreaming of making an Instagram-worthy catch, there’s a fish cleaning station and charcoal grill to prep and cook it for dinner.

A ground-level elevator offers convenient access to the home’s three levels. Next to the game room on the first level is a sitting area the kids can call their own which features a Smart TV and a pull-out sofa. There are also two bedrooms on this floor: a queen and a room with two singles that share a full bathroom. Four more bedrooms occupy the second level. There are two ensuite king masters — one featuring an extra-wide, accessible shower stall and a jacuzzi tub; the other a shower/tub combination. There’s also a queen bedroom and a wheelchair-accessible room featuring a pyramid bunk with trundle, both of which share a full hallway bathroom. The final bedroom, an ensuite king master featuring a tub/shower combination is located on the third level. All of the bedrooms feature Smart TVs and sliders to the deck.

For a house that can accommodate a large group, the third-level great room is that special space for everyone to gather. The open layout, complemented by cathedral ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, reveals not just dreamy ocean views, but the opportunity to relax, recharge and reconnect. Fill the four seats at the long counter to keep the chef company in a kitchen that features two dishwashers, two sinks, and a stand-alone ice maker. Spread out between two dining tables to enjoy memorable meals all together. The great room features a Smart TV and plenty of comfortable seating to settle in for an evening of streaming. The best seat in the house, though, is one of the Adirondack chairs on the deck, where the sea and stars put on an evening showcase that everyone can appreciate.   • "Yin and Yang" I was at Cape Hatteras last month to try and capture a sight of one of our heavenly visitors in the night sky - Comet Catalina. The comet is somewhat unique since this would be it's only ever visit to the inner Solar System before being ejected to interstellar space forever. It was by no means an easy target to locate and photograph in the night sky especially for someone who's never done that before. But this is not about my attempts at capturing Comet Catalina (although I did manage to view and capture it). After I was done looking at the comet, I settled by the beach next to this pier, one of my favorite places on the North Carolina Outerbanks, to hear the ocean's mesmerizing soundtrack. I still had about 2 hours to go before sunrise and so I was just sitting and enjoying the unseasonably warm winter in December and just looking at the stars, Venus, Jupiter and Mars in the night sky. I suddenly noticed this big cloud about 5 minutes in streaking just below bright Venus. On a hunch, I decided to capture an image to see what the cloud looked like and a short 15 second later, I saw the start of what turned out to be one of the most perfect sunrises I have borne witness to. The cloud had started to just pick up the first rays from the sun, with about an hour and a half to go before sunrise. I love the juxtaposition of every single element in this image. The fading of the night sky and stars with Venus shining valiantly as the sun comes back to herald the start of another day, the stretch of unbroken cloud over the hurricane damaged pier and the sheer beauty created in an otherwise damaging act of Mother Nature (the hurricane, not the sunrise :) ). This duality is what inspired the title of the image. If you're near the NC coast, this location is a must stop. It is close to the town of Buxton and the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Island Princess #1180

Location and view amazing. Bathrooms and kitchen very clean. Layout great for families. However there is a mold issue on the top floor especially in the bedroom. The rugs and furniture are very dirty . The rugs need to be replaced. The path to the beach is extremely steep. The house is older than it appears in the photos. With some tlc this property could be vastly improved. We had an off season rate but would never pay summer prices for this.
