From Vira, you can go on beautiful short or longer hikes or take a boat to Locarno, Ascona, or the Brissago Islands. It’s also easy to take a boat to Italy—specifically to Luino, Canobbio, or the Borromean Islands. In addition, there are many attractions and museums in the surrounding area, particularly in the towns of Locarno, Lugano, Bellinzona, and Ascona, and Milan is just a short drive away, with its many notable landmarks such as the cathedral, theaters, and numerous beautiful museums. Of course, Milan is also an ideal place to go shopping or visit the world-famous La Scala opera house.
