Lot of defects
The hotel does not provide sun umbrellas. They do not provide complimentary bottled water. The bathroom has a noisy fan that cannot be switched off. Breakfast and dinner have limited choice. No fruit was available. Some construction works ongoing. The beach is tiny and somehow dirty. Not comparable with Batu Ferringhi

Hotel is looking very tired. Vinyl clad couch in our room was split in many places. TV show options were very poor to say the least. Having said that the room staff were very good and the bed was comfy. There is nowhere to sit in a/c comfort when you check out and are waiting to be picked up. There is no booklet explaining the hotel facilities and how to get around the local area in the room. Overall disappointing 😞

Very poor would not stay with Mercure again
We had a very poor experience at this hotel and would not recommend. Upon arrival the check in staff could not locate our booking. We waited over 30 minutes until they eventually found it. There were stains on the bathrobes, sheet and towels, The bathroom flooded every time the shower was used and there were ants all over the bathroom. Despite being a non smoking room and floor there was a constant smell of fresh cigarette smoke so much so it woke me up in the middle of the night to check for fire. The service was poor, often there were no tables for breakfast and there was no cutlery available on most mornings. During the dinner service my kids waited 45 minutes after my food arrived for theirs, close to 1.5 hours for basic food and only 2 tables seaters The bar was too noisy so we left we only to be told we can’t drink alcohol in the restaurant (with our meal). I was very disappointed in the lack of service.

Scenic spot from the time you enter lobby
Very scenic place. Rooms a lil dated but still comfortable. On site restaurant is ok and bar as well. The private beach is a winner all day

The room we had was very dirty, crumbs and hair were left everywhere on the floor and we asked them several times to come and clean and one showed the customer service wasn’t the best. We also had ants everywhere from the kitchen to the dining table.

Staff were nice and polite. However, cleanliness needs to be improved. There were 2 times they gave dirty pillow especially when we asked for new ones due to lipstick stain and shoe prints found on the old pillows. I guess you do get what you paid for. Would advise families with young children to pay for a better hotel if affordability is a non-issue.

Another review mentioned weak Wi-Fi connectivity, but we had no problems at all and were comfortable. Good staff , service and easy access to many places. It was a nice hotel, not too expensive.

Disappointed with Mercure
We were there at noon (check in time 2.00) and the hotel was practically empty yet they refused to check us in. We’ve been staying in hotels since Jan 2023 and most hotels would check us in so long as they had rooms. Guests were jumping into swimming pool fully clothed, looked like some crummy no-star hotel. ☹️

Great location, stunning ocean views, clean and comfortable rooms. But really disappointed in how some people would think it's ok to smoke inside the hotel. We had to request the staff to get a different room after they couldn't locate whoever was smoking. The smell would carry through the vents on and off. Definitely a big inconvenience with a 1.5 year old. Staff had to be nudged a few times before they could accommodate us. Parking is free but limited, with more free parking available at the underground parking at the plaza next door.

4 Star??? Maybe in 1983
If you are used to 4 and 5-star resorts, you can probably see the value for the price is lacking. There are competitive resorts nearby offering better value for the price. Google reviews had several negative comments, but the service has improved since then. However, senior management may not supervise the day-to-day running in the hotel and staff at times are stretched. Noon checkout had only one poor employee trying to deal with way too much on the day before we checked out. The line was way too long to be acceptable. Management should ensure their staff are not overburdened as the cleaners were rushed to do their job effectively and certainly did not do a top-class clean even though the COVID cleaning signs stated otherwise. The most significant selling point is the beach out the front with the pool and gym next to the beach. The beach location is their winning ticket but the hotel needs senior managers to be on the ground with the staff and start looking closer at the finer details that are meant for 4-star resorts.
