Such a lovely hotel. Super clean and the most comfy sleep. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Love the history of the hotel.

Traditional with great staff
Brilliant service. Lovely staff. Great food. Excellent traditional pub bar. Rooms could do with a bit of minor maintenance (broken blind and basin plug)

Lovely property on the edge of an idyllic village setting on a green. Staff were welcoming, room clean and tidy and food was lovely - the only thing that let it down was the cold shower and the fact that our friends could hear every word we said when we were in the bathroom area. We were in the new extension rooms

We stayed here for my wife’s birthday and choose the Guardsroom as it had a four poster bed. The room is lovely with so much character The staff are excellent and super attentive The food was really nice, we had dinner and breakfast. I really would recommend staying here as it cannot be faulted

An amazing building, most of which dates from before King Henry VIII. Lovely old beams and more modern coloured glass with historical scenes. Oh, and the food was good, too. Bedrooms are old on the road side, more recent at the back

Fantastic place to stay. The Crown lived up to all our expectations from the pictures. Lovely old building with loads of character. All areas were spotlessly clean & tidy. Food and drinks were again excellent. Our visit was during COVID-19 restrictions and was run very well with customer safety in mind. A special mention to Hannah, Daniel & Kiera for their attention to detail and customer satisfaction. Would give them and the rest of the staff top marks in all areas. Thanks for your help to make our stay such a pleasure.

Great little hotel
A lovely hotel - full of features. I was on crutches for this visit, the staff were incredibly helpful and could not do enough to help. Food was good. Great location - nice and quiet - would definately stay again.

Great place to eat or stay.
Stayed here for one night and have nothing negative to say. Check in was smooth, food in the evening and for breakfast was very good. It was busy in the evening which clearly shows its popular for food. My room was very clean and comfortable. No hesitation in recommending this place and would stay again.

Absolute quintessential olde English Inn and pub with all the mod cons! Beautiful character Tudor building with exposed beams, creaky floors, gorgeous decor and BIG open fire. Peaceful setting situated on a green and across the street a lively church! Great food! Great HUGE bath and room to rest and fabulous food! I look forward to going back and bringing friends!

We stayed in the Elizabeth room in a comfortable 4 poster bed. It was steeped in history and the wonky floors and solid wood doors add to its charm. There is sky TV, WiFi and bottled water as well as tea and coffee. The gin selection is excellent and the variety of menu at breakfast was a welcome surprise, I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, while my husband had a full English. Sitting in a snug bar with roaring log fire and snow outside was delightful. Highly recommended for couples who enjoy historic buildings and a traditional English pub. Just to add, we had a phone call to say we had left an iPad in the room and it was secure in the office - how kind!

Not what I was expecting
The bar area is lovely and the food is delicious but I think the rooms are overpriced. My overnight accommodation was booked as a superior romm but did not live up to me expectations, considering that I stay away at least 2 nights per wekk in different parts of the country this was not a superior room. Breakfast was also dissapointing having to request a bowl for my cereal and no offer of toast only croissants on the fuffet table.

I usually stay at premier inn but the crown was nearer to my destination so I thought I would treat myself to a 5 star hotel. the staff were really good, very polite and helpful. the hotel was clean and the location was right for me. but in my opinion it is not 5 star , it is on a par with premier inn but premier inn is better value for money .

Lovely stay, excellent dinners, great staff. The only reason didn’t give excellent rating is that the four poster bed Room was way too dark. The main light was positioned above the bed’s wooden canopy top ? so no light when sitting on bed at night using wifi or TV. The small light on side of wall was not enough. Lovely area, would recommend.
