Ocean House, by Vinifera Homes
- Perched on a dramatic bluff above the Pacific, Ocean House combines sweeping ocean views from three sides, a deck hot tub facing the sea, three fireplaces, and front-row seats to California's wild coastline. Sea lions, coastal birds, and whales passing offshore — this is the Mendocino Coast at its most unforgettable.
There are places you visit, and places that stay with you. Ocean House is the latter. The moment you step inside — with the open floor plan drawing your eyes straight to the ocean — you'll understand why guests keep coming back. Sweeping sea views from three sides, a hot tub on the deck facing the water, three working fireplaces, and wildlife: sea lions along the shore, coastal birds overhead, and whales passing offshore. And despite its secluded bluff-top setting, Ocean House is just minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and the heart of Gualala.
Ocean House earns its name. Positioned at the edge of a rugged coastal bluff, the home offers dramatic sea views from nearly every room. Settle into a recliner by the window, step onto the deck, or soak in the hot tub — the ocean is always with you. A telescope in the entertainment room is set up and ready for scanning the horizon.
During migration season, whales can often be spotted directly from the property — a rare and genuinely memorable experience. One of the most unique parts of staying here is hearing the sea lions on the rocks below. Their calls often drift up to the deck and through open windows, creating an experience that feels uniquely tied to this stretch of coastline.
The deck hot tub faces the ocean directly, with a full, unobstructed view of the water. Whether you're soaking after a day exploring the coast or watching the sunset over the Pacific, it's a spot guests return to again and again.
All three fireplaces are guest-usable and easy to operate:
•Main downstairs fireplace (living/dining area): wood-burning, anchors the open-plan living and dining space
•Entertainment room fireplace: pressed logs only (Duraflame-style), paired with a large sectional, oversized flat-screen TV, and ocean views
•Upstairs bedroom fireplace: pressed logs only, adds a warm and cozy touch to evenings in
The layout flows easily between spaces, making it effortless for groups to gather — or spread out.
THE BEDROOMS:
•Downstairs Master — King bed, private ensuite bathroom. Quiet and comfortable, ideal for guests who want a little extra privacy.
•Upstairs Bedroom — King bed, large closet, dresser, and flat-screen TV. A comfortable retreat after a full day on the coast.

THE GUALALA AREA:
Gualala sits on the Mendocino Coast, where the redwoods meet the sea and the pace of life slows to something that actually feels like a vacation. The town itself is small and genuine — two grocery stores, a handful of beloved local restaurants, the Gualala Arts Center, and miles of dramatic coastline in every direction. The Gualala River empties into the ocean nearby, offering calm kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding in contrast to the wild bluffs outside your door. The Sea Ranch Lodge and golf course are just a short drive south.
