1st visit but I'll be back!
Both Sally and her husband were amazing hosts - very friendly and ensured that my stay provided me with everything that I needed and more! I wasn't going to have breakfast but changed my mind on arriving at the house and so glad I did. Fabulous mushroom omelette accompanied with toast. Only downside is that they close at the end of the month and reopen in spring so I'll just have to wait for my next stay!!! On the plus side this means that they get time with their family which is so important and values that I hold high too! Thank you so much for making me feel so welcome.

Quiet rural location offering comfortable bedrooms with snug en suite. Guest lounge also available. Excellent choice of breakfast menu. Definitely would recommend a stay here just for the breakfast!

Small Room but Wonderful Breakfast
A lovely property in a very rural location. The breakfast was wonderful. The room was bijou but comfortable and ideal for a one night stay.

The breakfast was excellent, and the owner was kind, helpful, and accommodating. It was a very relaxing few days visiting my daughter at the college/castle near this property.

A place like home
Loved the place. Views from our room amazing Just a little bit dusty, but overall good quality toiletries and generous top notch biscuits with our tea tray. Breakfast lovely, shame about the tinned tomatoes instead of grilled tomatoes.

Androulla Thank you for your review, just one point, we have never ever ever used tinned tomatoes not even once in 31 years of being here! We grill, then skin them, cut in half so cannot think how you even thought they where tinned, tinned tomatoes come whole or chopped. Sally

Character Guest House with beautiful gardens
A lovely guest house on a quiet country lane. Gardens were beautiful and the house had real character. Our room was comfortable with a small sofa and four poster king sized bed which was very comfy. Breakfast had enough choice forums and was plentiful.

Peaceful and relaxing B&B, excellent breakfast
Very peaceful and relaxing couple of nights stay at Cleavers Lyng. Room was excellent, very comfortable with lovely views to the South Downs. Breakfast was excellent, a good selection and freshly cooked. Host was very welcoming and helpful.

Just a wonderful guesthouse on a country lane. Clean quiet and great breakfast. Fabulous 1500 \- year old building with beautiful views of sunset.

Great mini break enjoyed by my family for 2 nights. Very generous accommodation in the family room. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Great country walks and close to castle and science centre. Many thanks for your hospitality.

As we were staying several nights at Bader Hall to be at the castle for a LARP event, it was nice to have a hotell-rom so close (walking distance to the castle) before and after the event. Unfortunatly there are no restaurants or whatsoever in the area, one needs a taxi to get to the village, which on the other hand only costs 5 pounds one way. Would have been nice with a take away arrangement for guests. The cosy guesthouse itself is lovely and the owners are incredibly helpful and nice people, and the included breakfast was also very nice! Wi-Fi included

Thank you for your review it is very helpful, in fact we do have 3 or 4 Indian, Chinese and Pizza delivery services direct to Cleavers Lyng.

Great for parents who have Children at Bader
Great location for parents visiting students studying at Bader. It is a 10 minute walk. Cottage is lovely with the privacy of a hotel room but the charm of a B & B. Highly recommended.

Lovely, quiet b and b
Friendly welcome by the owners to their beautiful house and lovely garden where our dog was also welcomed. So quiet in the country but within short driving distance of good dog friendly pubs. Breakfasts were superb.

Romantisches Haus in herrlicher Gegend.
Dieses Haus von 1577 ist das, was es ist - ein altes Haus. Liebevoll wurde es in einen Zustand versetzt, der diesem Haus gerecht wird. Das die Deckenhöhen oder Türdurchgänge dabei auch für kleinere Personen oft sehr niedrig sind, kann man dabei verschmerzen. Ein romantisches Konstrukt mit herzlichen Vermitern, die sich um ein gutes Frühstück nicht verstecken müssen. Jederzeit empfehlenswert.

What a retreat... small, intimate and friendly hotel, in a quiet location. Good room with all the facilities and a fab range of breakfasts. The French antique bed was a bit creaky if getting friendly with your friend. 15th century Herstmonceux castle just over the way with a cool Zimbabwean sculpture exhibition.

We could not have been made to feel more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was excellent. Would be happy to stay at Cleavers Lyng again.

Peace and tranquility
We stayed for 2 nights visiting family in nearby Hailsham. Peace and tranquility abounds at CLyng. Simply charming and in a most beautiful setting next to Herstmonceux castle. Breakfast was outstanding, all freshly cooked and top quality. Sally is the perfect host. Bed was very comfortable. Loads of hot water. Reasonably priced. We used taxis to get around and all drivers knew the hotel location. Definitely recommended and we will look forward to next visit.

First Class breakfast
We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely 16th century bed and breakfast as we needed a base for the Hertmoncuex Observatory and wow what a wonderful choice it was. I couldn’t fault a thing, each room has a different theme and we stayed in the French room. There’s a games room on the first floor with a card table and many different board games. The room was clean and all details taken care of. The service and friendliness of the owners was first class and the breakfast – WOW, cooked to perfection. We are already looking at staying again in the not too distant future, this time to try one of the other themed rooms.

Very nice location and wonderfully kept old house in the vincinity of Herstmonceux castle. The room was comfortable and well equiped, the breakfast was excellent. However, the landlady could use an update in customer communications. Only on the last day did she lose her grumpiness - presumably because we were leaving? Also, payment for the room was expected upon arrival, which is somewhat unusual...

Lovely Cleavers Lyng
We enjoyed staying in this beautiful, peaceful location on the edge of the Pevensey Levels and an easy drive to Eastbourne, Hastings or Rye. Tasty breakfasts included delicious fruit salads and home made breads. Some rooms seemed rather pricey, but we will check out hotel when next in the area.b

Very good BnB
This is an excellent B&B. Good food. Good rooms. Great service. Full of little extra touches to enhance your stay. Rooms do have tea making facilities - not mentioned in the description. Very tranquil and quiet but with a few good eating places nearby in the village. Very near Herstmanceaux Castle which is well worth a visit.
