As a frequent vrbo renter i'd have to say this place was very overrated and very overpriced for what you get. From the pictures everything looked great, but there were quite a few downfalls. No smart tvs in any room besides the main bedroom. So you're forced to watch cable, which in 2025 is not the norm. The wifi was constantly dropping signal, so for the remote work we do it was not ideal. Almost all of the beds were extremely cheap and uncomfortable, to the point you felt springs poking into you from the bed all night long. The main sitting room/sunroom (there's no actual living room) gets no wifi at all so you're forced to watch cable (with limited channels) on a 20 inch tv screen from 15 feet away. One of the bedrooms is upstairs and it's VERY hot up there in the summer with only one AC unit. The "guesthouse" does not have central AC, so it's very warm as well in the summer. The owners were very nice, the pool was nice. The historical part of it was cool and the sunroom was pretty, but overall if you're charging this much for the amenities- the property should be top notch and this is far from it.

A beautiful property. Perfect for every age group but especially nice for young grandkids. They loved the pond and pool. Hosts were quick and responsive. Hopefully we will book again in the future.

Guest house: smelled musty; felt uncomfortable bec window units could not keep up with heat and humidity of SE Louisiana. Rodent droppings on bed. Family assigned to these 2 bedrooms slept on the floor of the main house just to get by the first night then checked into hotel the next morning. Main house: upstairs bedroom-same AC problems. (The third of 5 bedrooms rendered unusable!) I walked into a spider web and there was a dead roach on the floor. Other issues: stained towels, security alarm didn’t work and windows and door locks not working properly. Felt a bit unsafe. Never could connect to internet. Range hood leaked water onto front burner of stove. Persistent smell of gas when we lit the stove. Pool: dirty with yellow tint on the floor. Was leaking water. We never felt comfortable to use it. We tried to look past all of these issues. We tried to stay for the entirety of our reservation but then…we were awakened at 2am by mice rummaging through a baby’s diaper bag! We packed a few essentials and 2 sleeping babies and drove in the middle of the night to a hotel. (Went back about 9:30am to collect the rest of our things and leave the house in the condition required by the Check-out instructions.) Just an awful overall experience. We had spent considerable time and effort planning this family trip but these issues (and more) robbed us of the experience we expected. So far the owner refuses to give us the full refund that I must insist on. Please help.

Parents, grandparents and great grandma stayed in main house. Bride and bridesmaids stayed in the guest house. This set up was perfect and exactly what we needed. The sun room served as the make up/hair room and then all pics were take in there as well. I highly recommend. The grounds were beautiful— we were planning on a lot of outdoor pics but weather did not cooperate.

We were very pleased with our accommodations. The house was pleasant, clean, spacious, comfortable, and nicely kept. Beds were clean and very comfortable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all we needed and much more. The playground for the kiddos was a plus and kept them very busy and the solarium was our go to place every day. We will be staying there again.

We stayed at the Secret Garden with several family members to celebrate Thanksgiving. The grounds are amazing and I wish we had spent more time on them. But the inside of the main house was fantastic for cooking a big meal and a large family gathering to eat it. Everyone loved the place and it was easy to relax there. The driveway turn is a little hard to spot but once you know it is there we didn't have problems afterwards. There isn't really anything walking distance but there is a large grocery store just a 5 minute drive away and lots of places to eat and get stuff along the main road (routine 190) close by. We appreciated that each bedroom has its own bathroom. All the spaces were clean and well supplied. Definitely recommend it for families and we'd happily stay there again.

The grounds of this property are beautiful which made it a great short visit. The online description is misleading as it does not state the number of bedrooms in each house. It said five bedrooms and I thought they were all in one house so it caused a bit of a sleeping dilemma with children being in a separate area. The second house is very very musty. It was not noted that the hot tub would not be working.

Very Nice... Lots of fun. BUT....some disappointment...Pool light was burned out, back up pool flood lights were out, Hot tub NOT HOT (no heater), No Gym (as listed), WiFi did not work, Guest house had bad odor, Master Bedroom (no power) and was not offered to be compensated.....Yes, I was disappointed and so were my guest...Someone should have done a "walk thru" prior to our arrival....Especially for this "high end" rental......

We booked this beautiful place for a much needed family getaway! As with everything you book online you never know what to really expect when you get there. The secret garden not only did not disappoint but it was much more than we could have hoped for. Secluded but close enough to anything you need, it’s a small piece of Paradise where you can relax, enjoy beautifully taken care of gardens, with lakes and a gorgeous swimming pool. The house accommodates many people with plenty of space and beautiful rooms with light and anything you might need. Every room has it’s own bathroom which is very convenient. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need! Again, the garden and the nature around this beautiful property is enough to guarantee a peaceful, restful stay!!! One thing very important is that the host is very quick to respond to any requests while allowing for complete independency and quiet. We are hoping to make this our frequent getaway destination!

The grounds were beautiful, and the home was nice especially for how old it is. All of the amenities you need were there and provided for you. The owner was easy to get in touch with. The beds were a little uncomfortable and the rugs were a little dirty from so many visitors. I would definitely get rid of the rugs and show the beautiful floors. We had a restful stay and would give the house an overall 4.7 because of the beds and rugs.
