Thank you for the review. You are correct, the building is not heated. The building is more of a greenhouse type setup so there would be no way to insulate it to keep heat in. The pool temp is regulated to stay at around 84-86 degrees. I'm so glad you enjoyed the mattresses. They are Serta Malloy pillow tops.

Dear Susan, thank you for the review. You are absolutely correct about our hotel being older. Our hotel is 52 years old. We are very proud that we have been in business for 52 years. We are an Independent American Military Family owned and operated property and have been for the entirety of the 52 years. It is very unfortunate that you did not enjoy the Free Continental Breakfast. Your email confirmation did specify all items are prepackaged. I assure you, Covid has nothing to do with what we offer for the Free Continental Breakfast. When you checked in, I’m sure you saw our lobby is only 340 sq ft. There is no way possible to provide a full hot breakfast for a full house. Our property is the largest in Helen. This would mean any given day we were full, there could possibly be 200-400 people in the lobby. There are several places in Helen that offer a wonderful breakfast. If a full breakfast is a deal breaker for you. Might I suggest you search hotel amenities for a chain hotel that offers a full hot breakfast the next time you visit Helen. I don't believe our hotel is “pretty shabby”; it was designed to have a Bavarian feel. All murals on property were hand-painted by local artists. All furniture was custom made to have that old world feel. We have just installed all new Smart TVs, a new phone system and improving the guest WiFi. Last year we installed new rod iron railing for the Riverfront Balcony rooms. Each year we do some kind of renovation or property improvements while keeping with the theme of Alpine Helen. We have been offering limited housekeeping for several years. You were made aware of this via the confirmation email as well as the text sent prior to arrival. If you preferred to have full housekeeping daily, we only needed for you to request it. I did notice you were able to be checked in early. That is not typical for the weekends. Our check in time is any time after 3pm. This information was also included in your confirmation email and text. We have an exceptional staff at the Helendorf. Our staff is one of our greatest assets. Best of luck finding a hotel more suitable to your preferences.

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. All confirmation emails state we currently have construction ongoing, as well as Expedia sends out a courtesy email to their customers. All guests receive a text 15 mins after checking in stating the following, "If you find anything wrong with your room please give us a call at the front desk and someone will be right over to take care of things." After investigating, I did not see a response to our text of any issues with the room, nothing was on the shift report, housekeeping report nor the maintenance report. I see you were a one night reservation and did indeed stay. I'm pleased you were able to get checked into your room early, before our check in time. That doesn't happen often especially on a Saturday evening. Regarding the staff member(s) you encountered, I am in complete surprise with your review. We pride ourselves on having an exceptional staff. Our staff goes above and beyond for our guests and their needs. Our staff could be considered the best part of staying at the Helendorf Inn. It was included in your email confirmation what our Continental Breakfast consist of, it does not mention fruit, waffles, or most of the items you listed. Might I suggest a chain hotel that offers a full hot breakfast the next time you visit Helen.

Thank you for the review. It is unfortunate that you were unable to locate the elevator. Your room was 5 doors down from the elevator and 2 doors down from a ramp. Once you pulled under the archway, the tall tower to the right was the elevator. Did you happen to stop by the front desk or call the front desk for clear directions to the elevator? We would have been more than happy walked you to the elevator. I do hope it didn't interrupt your stay.

We are currently in the process of installing Smart TVs, a new phone system and improving the guest WiFi. Last year we installed new rod iron railing for the Riverfront Balcony rooms. Each year we do some kind of renovation or property improvements. We were actually a full house during your stay. The building you were in has concrete and rebar in the walls. I am very surprised you were able to hear anything. The guest next to you must've been very loud. Did you call the front desk to report the noise? We are staffed 24/7 and would have addressed the issue immediately had we known there was an issue. I see you were able to be moved the next morning to a different floor. I hope you enjoyed you additional two nights with us. Our mattresses are Serta Malloy pillow top and are only a couple of years old. The pillows were just recently purchased. We are not a chain hotel; therefore, we don't have to follow certain specs. We choose what is best for our guests. There are 19 other hotels in Helen that may be more suited for your special needs for quietness.

The guest room furniture was all handmade to have a Bavarian feel. I did look to see if there was a report written up regarding your room and did not find one. I did not find one during your stay or at check out. We never have any issues with the building you were in, the housekeeper has been with us for 18 years and loved by many of our repeat guests. Thank you for your review. Please give me a call to discuss these issues. Our Continental Breakfast is available everyday from 7am until 9am. Staff replenishes the items during those hours. I'm not what hours you arrived for the breakfast. If it was during those hours or near the end, the staff would have been happy to restock. After looking at the maintenance report, I did not see the adjoining reported for your room or the 2nd room. Thank you for letting us know the doors were hard to open. I will have that taken care of immediately. Had I known this while you were here, we could have taken care of it right away.
