Leapin Lizards Island Retreat

Immerse yourself in the captivating feeling of an enchanting ocean-side Retreat nestled at the foot of Turtle Hill on picturesque Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas. Enjoy the unique coziness of any of the eight bedroom suites, each with its own theme and private bathroom. (One of only three homes on Elbow Cay offering eight bedrooms.) In addition to the twenty-one guests that can be accommodated in a wide variety of beds, there are four queen sleeper sofas that can sleep eight more guests for a total of twenty-nine. Four kitchens are available to serve a wide variety of wakeup times from the early morning sunrise watchers to the mid-morning sleep-ins. There are also two guest (Insert “self-service”) laundries to serve the day-to-day needs of guests. The ability to provide for many guests with a wide variety of sleeping arrangements, kitchens and laundries provides a perfect venue for weddings, and corporate retreats.

Step back in time to the slower pace of old-world charm and feel the tranquility when you view the multi-colored pristine waters of the Abacos or a magical starlit night from the outdoor king-sized dune-top bed overlooking the ocean.

Accompany that first cup of early morning coffee with a spectacular view of sunrise cresting over the waves of the Atlantic from the ocean-side gazebo, the arbor covered front deck, or the third floor of the Island House.

Arriving guests first encounter the main three-story Island House connected by an elevated walkway over a lushly landscaped patio to a wonderful swimming pool and tanning deck. The pool is adjacent to the charming oceanfront Beach House. Both buildings share the timeless architecture of high Bahamian tongue and groove ceilings complimented by beadboard walls and many authentic period antiques.

Flexible rental options exist for smaller groups to rent only one building at $11,825.00 or both for $17,879.40 each offering its own unique charm and accommodation ensuring an unforgettable island getaway. Full access to the pool and ocean-side amenities are available regardless of which building is chosen.

The Island House:
The Island House offers three full floors. The first-floor suite named the “Turtles Nest” offers a full-service kitchen, living room with a smart TV and a queen sleeper sofa, plus a bedroom with two single beds and one set of bunk beds.

The second floor offers three bedrooms, “Captains Quarters” with a king-size bed and a smart TV, “Curly Tails” with a queen-size bed, and the “Crews Quarters” with one single bed and one a set of bunk beds.

The third floor provides a full-service kitchen and outdoor covered dining for eighteen plus a large screen smart TV and a queen sleeper sofa. The second and third floors both provide outdoor seating and 360° walk around decks.

The Beach House:
Delight in panoramic ocean views from the arbor-covered front deck, the elevated gazebo, or the outdoors king-size, dune-top bed. These are perfect spots to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of ocean-front living.

The Beach House features three floors. The first floor named “Mermaids Quarters” offers a full equipped kitchen, living room with a large screen, smart TV and a queen sleeper sofa, a bedroom with a queen-size bed, plus an oversized bathroom and laundry.

The second floor boasts a full kitchen, a large adjacent dining room for ten, a sizable living room with a large screen smart TV and queen sleeper sofa, plus the ocean-side master bedroom, named “Sea Angel,” with a king -size bed and a large screen smart TV. Also on the second level is a twin bedroom named “Starfish” with two single vintage beds and a vintage desk.

Our newest addition (2024) is the third floor, aptly named “Crow’s Nest” after the highest vantage point on the old sailing ships. This special getaway will appeal to teens and offers breathtaking views of the pool deck to the West and the Atlantic Ocean to the East from all four of the two sets of bunk beds.
