Huron Lake House Getaway at Old Homestead Beach = Beach & Chill

Newly decorated, painted and furnished, this home has it all AND it is located just minutes to Cedar Point, Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, Vermilion, Thunderbird Hills & Sawmill Creek Golf Courses, Put-In-Bay, Kelly's Island, Cedar Point Sports Center, and the Wineries at Marblehead.
When you are not out exploring the amazing sites & activities Huron and our neighboring Lake Erie towns have to offer, you can spend your days relaxing on the private beach that you will have access to when renting our home. We have provided all the amenities one should need (beach towels, sand toys, floats, etc.) and a cute red-wagon for you to take it all to the beach at one time. Hassle-free, that is exactly how your beach vacation should be. For a little fun on the water, we have kayaks and life jackets for you to give a try.
In the evenings, enjoy a very large fenced in back yard complete with a grill, firepit, plenty of outside games & outdoor seating. You could play a game of tennis at the nearby courts or shoot some hoops (2 min. walk), or perhaps hop on one of our bikes and take a tour around the neighborhood. In our all season room you will find an arcade machine featuring Mrs. Pac Man & Galaxia, ping pong table, foosball table, cards, and several family style board games/puzzles. We have something for everyone!
Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring - no matter the season, day or night, there are amazing sunrise & sunset views over the lake, trails to hike along the Huron River, excellent fishing opportunities, all of the water sport activities you could ever want, beautiful sandy beaches, some of the best food (& fish) in Ohio, championship golf courses and of course the islands, wineries & wine tours just to name some of our favorite things to do. Ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snow-shoeing are a must in the winter months!

My sisters and I had a wonderful long weekend at the Huron Lake House!!! We celebrated two of our birthday's and enjoyed "sister" time. We just loved everything about the house. It wss clean, cozy, and charming. We loved the cute coffee bar, enjoyed meals in the dining area, and relaxed and watched movies in the living room. We would definitely come here again!!

Very nice property. Super clean and welcoming. In a nice area with good proximity to everything you would want/need, and a short drive to Cedar Point which was our main focus of the trip. Host was great and they have easy instructions for the house and check out. Minor complaint was that it's close to traintracks and you will hear them at night. This however wouldn't preclude me from staying at this property again. Beach was also very nice. Cute little town that reminded me of an earlier time also.

The property was all that it was cracked up to be - clean, lots of amenities, including a fun 1981 video game console. However, instead of repeating what you can find out from the other reviews, I'm going to share what can enhance your experience. The first thing is that the seating is not particularly comfortable. Bring up to four large seat cushions for the high-top wooden chairs in the kitchen. The chairs in the dining room are metallic but there are a few padded folding chairs in the playroom - use those. If you need assistance getting in/out of a tub, bring a suction grab bar. Also, there is no toaster and no paper dinner napkins. You may want to add those to your food box. Read the log book. Regarding restaurants, Berardi's was our favorite. The Pied Piper Drive-in was fun for dessert. The others we tried (Sand Bar and Huron House) had sticky tables and sticky condiment dispensers. That's about it - Enjoy!

We had a wonderful stay! My husband and I stayed with our two littles, ages 8 and 3. We had more than enough space, all the beds were comfortable. The patio/three season room had a ton of games we all enjoyed. The backyard is super spacious, and the beach in the neighborhood was gorgeous. We will definitely be back in the future!

Family Lake Vacation

My husband and out 2 adult children had a great time playing ping pong tournament, foosball, ms. PacMan, Payday, Trouble, Apples to Apples and Catch Phrase. Loved the coffee bar and well equipment kitchen. Laundry room was great to get caught up before heading home. Beach was close, clean, neighborhood/neighbors were nice. Cedar Point was a short drive, bikini bottom jet ski, Berardi’s, Pied Piper, Main Street Tavern and Pier Pub in Huron and all great!

House was bigger than we expected. Very clean and not cluttered. Had everything we needed and was close to the things we wanted to do. Our two teenage sons, as well as us, got tons of use out of the game room. We also enjoyed the outside seating. We used the fire pit and the grill. Overall, we'd definitely recommend.

Great but a few tips

Loved property! Close to the beach and Sandusky has a lot of good common restaurants. One nussiance, there are a lot of midges (I think thats the name of those flies) in the area. At night, keep lights near the doors off unless you want a swarm coming in when you do. Learned my lesson after the first day.

Fantastic Home!

This was a great place to stay. It was clear that the home owners put a LOT of work to make it a fun vacation spot. The porch with a fantastic game room, the long dining table perfect for gaming, a garage full of cool outdoor activities, and a small fire pit. We absolutely loved it. It was also walking distance to a great Italian restaurant, a dairy queen, and some grocery stores. Couldn't have asked for a better place and will book it again if in the area!!

Perfect for our Cedar Point vacation!

We really enjoyed staying here! It was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for our stay! It was close enough to Cedar Point that we would come back for snacks or lunch and go back to the park. We tried the cutest ice cream/snack/lunch place called the Pied Piper, it was wonderful! Sherry was a wonderful host and gave great recommendations. The backyard firepit provided a great end of day relaxation area. The Ambiance was amazing! We will be back for sure!!!!!

Great House!

My Family of 5 enjoyed this house for 5 days. We have 3 older boys from 16-21 and we had so many fun activities to do and didn't even do everything. I use VRBO reviews to help me select where to go so I am going to share why I think is important for others to pick this great house. This house must be newer to VRBO, and the host made it perfect for all their guests. We agree with others that talked about the games, food locations to visit and the beach, they are all wonderful and perfect. I want to also share that the kitchen has almost everything. Whatever we needed to use in the kitchen was there, even a crockpot. It was not listed, but the host responded back quickly to my question to advise that the kitchen did have one available for us to use. What I want to share about the kitchen is it does not have items like foil, saran wrap, zip lock bags and other things like that. Also, no paper plates, napkins, disposable items like that. Sometimes previous renters will leave some items like that behind and we bring additional items to incorporate together. It is not a big deal and not a deal breaker, just something to know when you plan your stay. I didn’t know so I brought some basics, and everything worked out great for our snacks and meals. The host has an information book at the house with a list of great places to see, visit, and eat at. I had a couple inquiries before I arrived and sent a message. The host responded with recommendations, so if you have question

Perfect & Cozy

This house was absolutely amazing. From the check in process and the responsiveness of the host, we couldn’t have asked for better. The house itself was spacious and had so many added extra. Plenty of games in the game room, several items that were available to take to the beach, a s’mores bar, coffee and syrups, to just name a few. The host really put in the extra effort to make sure every little detail was covered. I would 100% stay in this house again and recommend to anyone coming to the area. The only reason I gave cleanliness 4 stars was because there was a horrible smell coming from under the sink that smelled like mold/mildew. Other than that, it was perfect!!

Great house, perfect location

The house was perfect for our well long stay in Huron. The highlights include the location, which was walking distance to the beach, stores and restaurants. The game room kept the kids busy and there outdoor patio was perfect for a cookout and entertaining. Plus, the bikes and cornhole in the garage was great!
