I don't feel this is a fair reflection of your stay with us as you told us that you had enjoyed your stay but that you had preferred to be in Inverness. We are 25 miles from Inverness and we don't pretend otherwise - there is a location map on our listing and it is your responsibility as a booker to select a location that suits you. We are a rural hotel and most people book with us because of our location in one of the most stunning locations in Scotland. Many of the addresses in Highlands have 'Inverness' in them as it is the nearest city.

We're disappointed to hear about your experience of booking with us. We think this is a particularly unfair review with accusations of one of our treasured staff members. We find it very hard to believe that the girl in question would have rolled her eyes as she has had plenty of very positive reviews on Expedia alone. She is an extremely polite and respectful member of our team and is known for being extremely friendly. This type of review in a small hotel like ours has the potential to be very damaging for a member of our team who works exceptionally hard. We acknowledged that a couple of the rooms above the bar are affected by music from the bar but there are many reviews online, including on this site from people staying in those rooms and for most people who are looking to enjoy your traditional highland bar and our great food and hospitality this isn't an issue. We also provide earplugs in our rooms for those who are sensitive to noise. The vast majority of our rooms are very quiet and the only noise to be heard is the flowing river at the back. You did stay with us the following night in one of our other rooms and I note that you don't mention this in your review. We pride ourselves in being welcoming and this is reflected in our strong online review presence so I am wondering if you were just having a bad day? I personally liaised with you ahead of your visit by email and went out of my way to help you out and meet your needs, yet there is no mention of this in your review either. We welcome feedback and critiicism if it is due but I feel that on this occasion this is not a balanced view at all and is therefore misplaced.

Thanks for taking time to review your stay with us. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. I would recommend that you book a family room which has a king sized bed and two single beds in it rather than opting for Double room with a fold down bed for a child.

Sorry to hear such a disappointing review as you didn't bring this to our attention whilst you were here. The continental breakfast consists of croissants, selection of highland cheeses, cold meats, yoghurt, fresh fruit, fruit granola sundaes, fruit juice, cereals, toast and homemade jams and marmalades. Many of our guests comment on how generous the continental breakfast options are so I am sorry you didn't find this to be the case. I'm sorry to hear that you found the scrambled egg to be wet and soggy - it is listed on the menu as creamy scrambled egg and it was served as it should have been. I know the fried breakfast wasn't burnt as I prepared it myself and served it to your table. Sorry to hear that you were woken early in the morning - this is very unusual and I do apologise that this happened. It is disappointing that you didn't have an overall positive experience and I hope this doesn't put you off returning. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent customer experience and we are always striving to improve.
