Iona Abbey: Tour e Visite Guidate

I lived on the Isle of Mull for a few months in 2003, so made it to Iona a few times. The Abbey was under renovation at the time but most of it was open. The ruins were very peaceful, as the tourist season had passed.

Lots of history here. Called the "cradle of Christianity" because Columba arrived here from Ireland in 539 to evangelize the Picts and Gaels.

Ottima accoglienza. Il proprietario è estremamente gentile e ospitale. Ci ha offerto un thé e frutta. Un po' complessa la gestione del bagno in comune. Abbondante e buona la colazione. Il centro a mezz'ora circa a piedi. Posto auto esterno abbondante e tranquillo.

I highly recommend the Puffin boat tour with Turus Mara on the island of Mull. If you are staying in Oban you can book at the ferry terminal which includes a ferry to Mull, shuttle across Mull to the harbour to meet the tour boat. Remember to pack a lunch. Words cannot describe the experience of having a few hours seeing these beautiful birds so close up and so many. The photo shows one looking up watching a seagull glide across the cliff top. There are also fulmars and razorbills. You will also be taken to Fingals Cave on the island of Staffa.
